Yoenis Cespedes: 3 Potential Landing Spots

Yoenis Cespedes: 3 potential landing spots Author : Robert D. Cobb To me, Yoenis Cespedes is one of the most intriguing big name free agents out there to me. He’s currently only 31 years old and may have one of if not the strongest arms in the MLB as well as having a lightning quick bat through the zone. I truly don’t understand why teams have moved him like they have. [embedit snippet="sreed-ads"] He started off his MLB career with the Oakland Athletics, then got shipped to Boston for a season, after that spent a season in Detroit with the Tigers, and then finally spending each of the last two seasons with the New York Mets. He’s been a bit of a traveling man and looks to find somewhere to finish his career off with at this point in his carry. Here we go with my top three potential landing places this time with the Cuban missile Yoenis Cespedes. 1. Toronto Blue Jays With the Blue Jays, more than likely losing both Jose Bautista and Edwin Encarnacion this off-season to free agency what makes more sense than filling the hole Bautista leaves with a younger Yoenis Cespedes. The Jays management has spent money in the past and will more than likely be willing to bolster this lineup after two massive departures again. Cespedes playing in the Rogers Centre could be a good fit. Another one of those hitter-friendly ballparks in the MLB that could pay huge dividends to for both the Blue Jays and Cespedes. 2. San Francisco Giants The Giants are looking for someone to help out that offense a little and bringing Cespedes to San Francisco could prove to be a huge upgrade over Gorkys Hernandez, Jarrett Parker, and Mac Williamson who would be competing for that third outfield position. Having Cespedes in the Giants lineup could help out both Brandon Belt and Buster Posey as opposing pitcher’s would then have a tough time picking and choosing who they do or don’t pitch to. If the Giants management is willing to spend some money and indeed make this team, a dynasty adding Cespedes should be target number one. 3. Texas Rangers 1 / 2 Let me start off by saying the only situation that makes this happen is if the Rangers don’t re-sign Ian Desmond. Desmond who ended up being the everyday centerfielder for the AL West champs is currently a free agent and will be receiving some serious interest from teams around the league. [embedit snippet="1"] If you read my Edwin Encarnacion article I listed the Rangers as a potential landing place for the slugger, and realistically we could see Texas make a move on both of these free agents. With Desmond potentially leaving that opens a hole in centerfield that Cespedes could fill and perform well in. If Texas can land one or both of the two big time free agents I’ve listed, they are going to be favorites again in the up and coming AL West. 2 / 2 Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org).
