Orphie Marcellus Amencan Squaredance, October 1990 3 •ir oday someone said to me, concern- ing a project, "When they leave us, we want people to feel good about square dancing." We know most callers feel that way about every dance they call. We feel this way about every issue of ASD. We want you to feel good about square dan- cing, to be proud of being a part of the dance fellowship, and to know what good things are happening in and because of the activity. We have before us an item that has been used and adapted many times and many ways. Perhaps we can apply it again to square dancing. Here goes: The Psalms tell us "the days of our years are three score and ten:' Seventy years times 365 days, plus 23.3 leap year extras, equals our scriptural allotment of What are we putting back into square 25,573.33 days. October 7990 pooks and goblins haunt us this S month, from the front cover to the BY-LINE "Rhyme Time" poem by Nessi Kopitz. Halloween is a favorite theme for dances that are full of fun. This month Al Eblen points out some"funny" facts about square dancing and Verna Owen relates the fun a group of dancers generated when they decided to border-hop. Jane Bierd describes a practical joke that backfired because the "jokee" liked it. On a more serious note, Norman Davis gives us a new dancer's feelings about classes and clubs. Mary Jenkins, along with her "BookNook" duties, has written up an award presented to Marge Richardson. Would you believe that each month space runs out before all the news is included? Watch November for reports on several square dance organizations, as well as some "Feedback" on the National Convention. Until then, Happy Haunting! 1 A to Z Engravers 66 25.
