SECOND SUPPLEMENT TO THE GIBRALTAR GAZETTE No. 4637 of 14 November, 2019 LEGAL NOTICE NO. 228 OF 2019. GIBRALTAR COINAGE ACT, 1990 ISSUE OF THE REMEMBRANCE 100-100 TH ANNIVERSARY COLLECTION COINS NOTICE 2019 In exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 2 of the Gibraltar Coinage Act, 1990, and all other enabling powers, the Minister responsible for finance has issued the following Notice– Title. 1. This Notice may be cited as the Issue of the Remembrance 100-100 th Anniversary Collection Coins Notice 2019 Commencement. 2. This Notice comes into operation on the day of publication. Issue of new coins. 3. (1) New coins of cupro-nickel, tombac and gold in the denominations of half crown, one crown, quarter, half, full, double and quintuple sovereigns shall be made. (2) In the making of the said coins, the millesimal fineness or composition of metals, diameters, shapes and other specifications shall be as set out in Parts II and VII of the Schedule to the Gibraltar Coinage Act, 1990. (3) In the making of the said coins, a remedy (that is a variation from the standard weight) shall be allowed as set out in the said Parts of the Schedule. Design of the coins. 4. The design of the coins authorised by this Notice shall be as follows– (a) the sovereign coins shall bear on the obverse impression the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II with the inscription “ELIZABETH II DEI GRA REGINA GIBRALTAR” bordering the top edge, date of the year below; GIBRALTAR GAZETTE, No. 4637 of Thursday 14 November, 2019 (b) the crown coins shall bear on the obverse impression the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II with the inscription “ELIZABETH II D.G. REGINA. GIBRALTAR” bordering the edge, date of the year and value below; (c) the reverse impression of the quarter sovereign depicts a Roman numeral clock face with the hand pointing at 11 o’clock and features a poppy wreath at the centre of the design; (d) the reverse impression of the half sovereign depicts a Roman numeral clock face with the hand pointing at 11 o’clock and features the silhouette of a WWI British Soldier on the bottom left hand side of the coin. The inscription around the edge of the coin reads ‘REVERENT REMEMBRANCE OF THE GLORIOUS DEAD’; (e) the reverse impression of the full sovereign depicts a Roman numeral clock face with the hand pointing at 11 o’clock and features the George V Sovereign obverse overlaying the design from the bottom right of the coin. The inscription around the edge of the coin reads ‘REVERENT REMEMBRANCE OF THE GLORIOUS DEAD’; (f) the reverse impression of the double sovereign depicts a Roman numeral clock face with the hand pointing at 11 o’clock and features a bunch of wild poppies on the bottom left of the coin. The inscription around the edge of the coin reads ‘REVERENT REMEMBRANCE OF THE GLORIOUS DEAD’; and (g) the reverse impression of the crowns and quintuple sovereign depict a Roman numeral clock face with the hand pointing at 11 o’clock and features a large and detailed wild poppy on the bottom right of the coin. The inscription around the edge of the coin reads ‘REVERENT REMEMBRANCE OF THE GLORIOUS DEAD’. Legal Tender. 5. The said coins shall be current and legal tender in Gibraltar.
