Online application starting May 2017 on the ENA website High-level corporate executives, senior civil servants, elected officials, journalists, trade union leaders, members of international institutions, decision-makers in civil society, will take part in the next cycle of the Executive course in European studies (2018 session). Under the patronage of Mr Michel BARNIER, former Vice-president of the European commission, former minister of the French government, European Union’s Chief Negotiator on Article 50 negotiations with the United- Kingdom. THE EXECUTIVE COURSE IN EUROPEAN STUDIES, A PLATFORM TO MAKE YOUR EUROPEAN PROJECTS HAPPEN AND A CAREER INCUBATOR The Executive course in European studies (CHEE) provides a solid grasp of procedures and major European issues. It is a powerful lever for the creation of influential professional networks and the implementation of European projects. As a mobility tool, the CHEE promotes career progression through the Europeanization of profiles. FIGURES AND OBJECTIVES - A High level training program compatible with your function and responsibilities - The aim: to enable you to be fully operational on EU affairs - An influential network of some 480 European decision makers - 33 nationalities - A 10 month training program of 2 to 5 days per month - Trips to numerous member states REQUIREMENTS The Executive course in European studies is designed for a class of some 40 high-potential participants from Europe or non- European countries, from different professional backgrounds, with proven responsibility in their sphere and with at least 6 years of professional experience. Applicants must have a perfect command of French and at least a passive knowledge of English. No knowledge of or professional experience in the European sphere is required. SCHEDULE The Executive course in European studies is divided into 10 modules, delivered from January to November 2018 (see overleaf): - an integration seminar in January; - modules scheduled in Paris, Strasbourg, Brussels and various capital cities. The Cycle includes a main core and in-depth study of topical issues. The Executive course in European studies teaching content and methods focus primarily on concrete experience. The course makes it possible for participants to meet high-level professionals in the sphere of European affairs. It places great importance on case studies and on European Union negotiations simulations. A series of exchanges between participants is also planned. Each annual session is placed under the patronage of a personality with a strong European commitment: Simone VEIL (2007), Jacques DELORS (2008), Valéry GISCARD d’ESTAING (2009), Felipe GONZALEZ (2010), Mário SOARES, (2011), Jean-Claude TRICHET (2012), Joschka FISCHER (2013), Jean-Claude JUNCKER (2014), Emma BONINO (2015), Ursula von der LEYEN (2016) et Herman VAN ROMPUY (2017). Executive course in European studies – Provisional Schedule 35 days at the heart of Europe (from January to November) Months Modules Monday 23 to Friday 26 January Integration seminar Wednesday 14 to Friday 16 February Thematic module in Paris Monday 12 to Thursday 15 march European Parliament module in Strasbourg Tuesday 10 au Thursday 12 April Thematic module in Paris Tuesday 15 to Friday 18 may Brussels module Wednesday 20 to Friday 22 June Study trip to an EU Member Stare or neighboring country Monday 9 to Wednesday 11 July Thematic module in Paris August Summer leave Monday 24 to Friday 28 September Study missions in groups to some 15 EU destinations Wednesday 17 to Friday 19 October Thematic module in Paris Wednesday 14 to Thursday 15 November Thematic module in Paris and end of cycle Date and site of the modules are subject to adjustment. There is 1 module per month at the exception of the month of august and December. Courses start at the beginning of the module at 10.30 am and end the last of the module at 4.30 pm. APPLICATION FEES The registration fees cover all teaching, travel and accommodation expenses plus refreshments and some meals. There are payable to ENA. Paying agency determines the category of membership at the time of submission of the application, according to the profile of the applicant. Registration fees are charged by ENA and are fixed for 2018 according to the following schedule: CHEE fees for 2018 Fee level 1 Print and online media journalists1 – Religious representatives 5,000 euros State civil service – Hospital civil service – Radio and television journalists2 – Fee level 2 9,500 euros Employees and national unions’ officials Territorial civil service – EU Administration – Elected officials – Fee level 3 14,000 euros Public- and private-sector enterprises and organizations Registration must be paid by February 15, 2018 in a single payment to the ENA account. The ENA is registered and declared under Article L. 900-2 of the Labor Code. Private companies may deduct their employee’s registration fees where applicable under Article L. 950-1 of the Labor Code.
