Introduction. The Greater Colombo Water and Wastewater Management Improvement Investment Programme is aided by the Government of Sri Lanka, Asian Development Bank (ADB) and executed by Ministry of Urban Development, Water Supply and Housing Facilities and implemented by National Water Supply & Drainage Board. This Bi-annual report consists of status of project Environmental Management and Monitoring progress for the period of 1st of July to 31st of December 2019. 1.1. Basic Data ADB Loan No : L-2947 / 2948 – SRI (Tranche 1) L-3029 / 3030 – SRI (Tranche 2) L 3348- SRI (Tranche 3) Project : Greater Colombo Water and Wastewater Management Improvement Investment Programme (GCWWMIIP) Borrower : Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka Executing Agency : Ministry of Urban Development, Water Supply and Housing Facilities Implementing Agencies : National Water Supply and Drainage Board Project Area and Location : Colombo Municipal Area 1.2. Program Objectives The Program will: (i) Reduce NRW in Colombo City from 49% in 2012 to below 18% by 2020 and in critical areas in particular from 60% to below 18% in 2020, (ii) Enhance the institutional and operational capacity of the Western Central Regional Support Center (RSC-WC) to reach 100%, 24-hour quality water supply in Colombo city; (iii) Expand wastewater collection, introduce wastewater treatment, enhance the capacity of CMC, (iv) Sustainability of the wastewater service to have 100% wastewater coverage in Colombo city and 100% sanitation coverage in Greater Colombo. 1 Environmental Management & Monitoring Bi - Annual Report (July – December) - Year 2019 1.3.
