Churchill S cholarship Who Should Apply: Undergraduate seniors & recent alumni Eligibility: • Must be a U.S. citizen, either native born or naturalized, and must be a senior who is enrolled in one of the institutions participating in the Scholarship Program or a student who has graduated from one of those institutions within the past 12 months • Upon taking up the Churchill Scholarship, a Churchill Scholar must hold a bachelor's degree or an equivalent, and may not have attained a doctorate Application Deadline(s): Early October Goldwater S cholarship Provides up to $7,500 per year for educational expenses to second and third year students pursuing careers in mathematics, the natural sciences, or engineering. Second year students awarded the scholarship receive two years of support, and third year students receive one year of support. Patrick Clinch Applicant assessments are based on Marshall 2021 academic merit, leadership potential and ambassadorial potential. Marshall S cholarships Who Should Apply: Graduating seniors & alumni Eligibility: • Applicant must be a US citizen • Applicant must have graduated with undergraduate degree after April 2017 • Applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree by summer 2020 • GPA: 3.7 or higher • No age restriction Application Deadline(s): Early August; Applicants must declare their intention to apply by April 1, 2021 Mitchell S cholarships Offers one academic year of postgraduate study in any discipline offered by institutions of higher learning in Ireland. Mitchell Scholars are selected on the criteria Alexander Peeples ’18 Shauna Raust of scholarship, leadership, and 2018 Mitchell Recipient 2018 Mitchell Recipient commitment to community and public service. The Mitchell Scholarship Program provides tuition, accommodation, a stipend for living expenses and travel. Mitchell S cholarships Who Should Apply: Graduating seniors, graduate students, & alumni Eligibility: • Applicant must be a U.S. citizen • Not yet 30 years old at time of application • Hold bachelor’s degree by summer 2019 • No GPA requirement, but usually 3.7+ Application Deadline(s): Early August; Applicants must declare their intention to apply by April 1, 2021 Rhodes S cholarships • Sends outstanding students from around the world to Oxford University for a Master’s, PhD or 2nd BA. • The Rhodes is the world’s oldest and most prestigious award for graduate Sarah Mackenzie Peter Andringa study. Rhodes 2021 Rhodes 2021 • Fun Fact: UNC has produced more Rhodes scholar than any other public university in the US (Numbers 50 & 51 in 2021!) Rhodes S cholarships Who Should Apply: Graduating seniors & recent alumni Eligibility: • Applicant must be a US citizen, permanent resident or DACA recipient (for US competition) • Not yet 24 years old at time of application • Hold bachelor’s degree by summer 2019 • No GPA requirement, but usually 3.8+ Application Deadline(s): Early August; Applicants must declare their intention to apply by April 1, 2021 Beinecke S cholarships Provides $34,000 to support graduate education. Students receive an initial $4,000 during their senior year and the remaining $30,000 is distributed within a two- to five-year period while the student completes graduate studies. Applicants must be a college junior pursuing a Joshua Massey bachelor’s degree and plan to pursue graduate 2020 Beinecke Scholar studies in the arts, humanities, or social sciences. Eligibility for financial need is strongly considered. Who Should Apply: Juniors Application Deadline(s): Early January GPA Minimum: None Public Policy & S ocial S ciences Rangel Fellowship Rangel International Affairs Program: The Rangel Program is a collaborative effort between Howard University and the U.S. State Department that seeks to attract and prepare outstanding young people for careers as diplomats in the Foreign Service of the U.S. Department of State. The Program encourages the application of members of minority groups Radhika Arora historically underrepresented in the Foreign Service and those 2021 Rangel Fellow with financial need. There are two main components to the program: the graduate fellowship and the undergraduate summer enrichment program. Who Should Apply: Sophomores, juniors, seniors for Summer Enrichment; seniors & alum for Fellowship Truman S cholarship Scholars receive $30,000 for graduate studies. Applicants must plan to pursue a graduate program geared toward public service. Scholars are future “change agents” who want to improve the way that public entities such as government Mina Yakubu agencies and non-profit organizations serve the 2020 Truman Scholar public. Who Should Apply: Juniors Application Deadline(s): Early November Global S tudies Yenching Academy Provides a postgraduate scholarship for an interdisciplinary master’s degree at Peking University’s campus. Enrolled international students spend 12 months in residence at the Faith Virago Meredith Williams Yenching Academy. Upon completion of their year Yenching 2021 Yenching 2021 in residence, students have up to one more year to finalize projects and defend their thesis. Yenching Academy Who Should Apply: Graduating seniors & recent alumni interested in interdisciplinary China Studies Eligibility: • Candidates to the Yenching Academy must hold a bachelor's degree • Preference is given to those 25 years old or younger (or 27 years old or younger for students from countries with mandatory military service) by start of program • Candidates can be any nationality • Candidates can be from any academic field Application Deadline(s): Late October S chwarzman S cholars Program • Schwarzman Scholars will have an opportunity to live in Beijing for a year to study, attend lectures, travel, and develop first-hand exposure to China and its people. Inspired by the Rhodes Scholarships, the Emily Venturi ‘18 (Left) and Schwarzman is designed to train future Alice Huang ‘16 (Right) leaders by preparing them to 2018 Schwarzman Winners better understand China, its role in global trends and their role as future leaders.
