Mario Pérez Scout Executive Yucca Council, Boy Scouts of America Objective: To serve as Scout Executive for the South Florida Council and use my unique energy, vision, and entrepreneurial spirit to provide every youth the opportunity to achieve success through Scouting. This includes the responsibility for strategic direction, tactical goal establishment, and operational execution of the Council within the Executive Board’s defined mission, vision, bylaws, regulations and policies while adhering to all applicable federal, state and local laws. Background: Successful experiences in three Councils have led to top performance ratings and steady promotion opportunities to positions with increased responsibility. The ability to motivate people of various socio- economic backgrounds have helped me accomplish and attain an excellent record of team performance, volunteer recruitment, membership growth, innovative fund raising and creative program delivery. An experienced professional with proven success in the BSA, my qualifications include being a sound fiscal manager/forecaster, being a talented strategic thinker/planner and a strong communicator who can spread the message of Scouting to every community we serve through a variety of mediums including social media, marketing & public relations, as well as a commitment to securing support from staff and volunteer teams to increase high public visibility. Selected Achievements: Increased Council Generated Contributions (Friends of Scouting, Special Event Fundraising and Grants & Foundations) by 19.1% from $438,723 in 2014 to $522,587 in 2017 Improved the Council Popcorn sale through the implementation of proven sales tactics, which led to campaign sales growth from $314,246 in 2014 to $442,360 in 2017 a 40.7% increase Successfully guided our Council through multiple land/building leases, including the acquisition of an Urban Camp in 2015 – Capital Campaign expected to kick off in Fall of 2018 – have secured commitment for $1.25M lead gift - Campaign Chair and Committee in place Grew total Council membership (including Exploring) by 15.1% from 3,935 to 4,528 members between 2014 and 2017 – our Council has achieved year end membership growth 3 years in a row Implemented a Sign Up for Scouting plan which includes an English and Spanish version of the “Parents Orientation Guide” to help new leaders and parents become familiar with Cub Scouting Strengthened our Unidos Prosperamos (Scoutreach) program, which served more than 539 young people at the end of 2017. This program provides Scouting Specialists (Program Staff), camperships, uniforms, Scout handbooks, advancements and registration fee assistance to low income families Increased size of Council Staff and maintained same team (with one exception) from 2015-2017 Employment History: Scout Executive, El Paso, TX • May 2014 – Present Yucca Council serves 7 counties in West Texas & Southern New Mexico through 6 Districts and a Council staff of 14; including 7 professional staff, 2 Office Staff and 5 Program Specialists Balanced the Council’s Operating Budget every year except for 2015 (extenuating circumstances) with large surpluses every year due to increases in Council Generated Contributions In collaboration with a strongly committed Council Nominating Committee, transformed the diversity on our Executive Board by recruiting 11 Hispanic males and 2 females between 2014-2017 Initiated a volunteer led Council STEM Committee, as well as Disabilities Awareness Committee Increased Special Event fundraising by 22% - added three new events and improved historical events Director of Field Service, Wichita, KS • April 2010 – May 2014 Quivira Council served 30 counties in South Central and Southeastern Kansas through 6 Districts and a Council staff of 30; including 8 field staff and 7 Program Specialists Provide leadership to Marketing Director, 2 District Directors, 6 District Executives and 7 Prog.
