Hammerstein was a great partner. He worked not only with Richard Rodgers, but with Jerome Kern (Showboat), Herbert Stothart (Always You, Furs and Frills, Jimmie, Tickle Me), Otto Harbach, (Rose Marie, The Desert Song), and he was a mentor to Stephen Sondheim!
