As a result, we have been able to lower CO2 emissions per passenger by 46 percent since 2005. We have implemented several programs for optimizing our CO2 footprint in close collaboration with our business partners. Our commitment to becoming carbon neutral by 2030 stands firmer than ever and we strongly believe that the industry will not only evolve better but also greener when global air traffic rebounds. With anti COVID-19 measures in place and the airport operations recovering in a safe manner it is now time to focus our attention and combined efforts to economic and ecological sustainability measures, such as: • Introduction of smart and innovative lighting technologies across our campus • Usage of solar electricity and cooling with intelligent photovoltaic systems • Utilization of alternative fuels from renewable energy sources • Recycling of the active glycol component in the de-icing fluid • Efficient cogeneration of heat and power with our own CHP plant If you are interested in learning more about how you can reduce airport CO2 emissions and how you can introduce sustainable solutions in all fields of airport business, please contact us at [email protected]. Our sustain- ability experts are looking forward to working with you towards a greener future of aviation. Inserat_grün1.indd 1 11.09.20 16:50 Returning to the skies with confidence As airlines and airports resume operations in a post COVID-19 world, new health and safety requirements are transforming the passenger experience. SITA has the solutions today to accommodate these new demands. This starts with a low-touch passenger journey where mobility and biometrics automate the travel process, limiting the need to touch equipment in the airport. We help airports and airlines manage the flow of passengers and provide dynamic safety information along the journey. SITA also helps governments by identifying high-risk passengers while managing fast changing borders. Together these solutions help drive compliance for the industry and increase confidence for passengers. sita.aero EDITORIAL he COVID-19 crisis has turned our lives upside down, with aviation and travel being by far the most T impacted. Apart from passenger volumes going back where they stood some 50 years ago, the ranking of airports is just another stark illustration of the fact that that we continue to live in a paral- lel world. Last September, Antalya was the busiest airport in Europe with just 2.25 million passengers, followed by Moscow-Sheremetyevo and Moscow- Domodedovo. St Petersburg welcomed more passengers than Paris-CDG, and Athens more than Munich.
