Walthamstow Wetlands - Fantastic new opportunities for outdoor learning at London’s largest wetland nature reserve! The London Wildlife Trust will be delivering an extensive programme of indoor and outdoor education sessions for primary school children. Book an information sharing session for teachers or attend one of their free guided tours of the site. Walthamstow Reservoirs (between Tottenham Hale and Blackhorse Road) are currently being transformed into a huge new urban wetland nature reserve, heritage centre and education facility: Walthamstow Wetlands, due to open in Spring 2017. This £8.7 million project is supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund and led by the London Borough of https://thehub.walthamforest.gov.uk/news-source/waltham-forest in partnership with Thames Water and other consortium agencies. When fully open Walthamstow Wetlands will provide visitors free access to a unique natural environment in the heart of urban London. Facilities will include a visitor centre, café, outside dinning terrace, viewing platform, exhibitions, heron webcams, bird hides, tours and events. The London Wildlife Trust will be delivering an extensive programme of indoor and outdoor education sessions where primary school children can connect with the environment through learning about the wildlife on their doorstep, conservation and environmental issues, industrial heritage and our drinking water's journey from reservoir to tap. Sessions will be designed to meet the requirements of the National Curriculum.
