ST. PIUS X CATHOLIC COMMUNITY 16 Smithville Crescent, St. John’s, NL A1B 2V2 Tel.# 754-0170 Finding God in All Things 3rd SUNDAY OF LENT March 7, 2021 THIRD SUNDAY OF LENT SUGGESTIONS FOR REFLECTIONS ! Jesus breaks the boundaries of religion and culture and even goes so far as to ask a favour of the Samaritan woman. How can I break the boundaries of religious and cultural biases so as to accept and learn from others different from me? ! What are my deeper hungers and thirsts which only the Lord can satisfy? ! Do I believe that Jesus accepts me as I am with my past failures and sins? ! What is attractive about the way Jesus relates to the Samaritan woman? SOURCE: www.marquette.edu Fr. EARL DREAMS ONLINE AWARENESS I’ve an awareness to share. The life of our faith community is as much ‘in-church, at home, and throughout St. John’s’ - as it is ‘online’. Have we noticed that for a variety of reasons our parish life is radically different from what and how it was lived a year ago? Do we accept that the manner we profess our Christian faith has radically changed and needs further change? A good example is the challenge away from our physical-church-centric mentality. Who in our parish does not love our church and why not? However, now that we’ve been forced to practise our faith in service to other(s) outside and off our Smithville Crescent properties, we are making a generous but not so easy ‘go of it’. How so ... you might ask? Sunday’s Live Stream Mass is currently the centrepiece weekly moment for us to worship and share Communion with the Lord and through one another. Are we able and ready to actively participate in it or do we access other available prayerful options? This Lent our CWL offers us a highly praised online ‘Way of the Cross’... What else might we offer to the advantage of each other? A number of online Lenten retreats are recommended. There is a spectrum of website options for devotional activities in preparation of Easter. [Yes, Easter is only a month away!] While face to face contact with other community members is preferred, we can and do make many graced efforts to remain in touch with others by phone calls, emails AND most important through online resources presented in our Tuesday Updates and/or weekend bulletin. Some day soon we all hope to be reunited in our beloved Church but for now God shows new and ongoing ways to remain united during this forced period of physical separation. Thanks be to God. Fr.
