This task sharing results in a highly scalable system because all that is required when the system load is nearing capacity is to simply increase the number of TransferWorkers. The most important features are: Switch low-res generation on and off within a database table. A configurable table is monitored. If a low-res copy is missing, LoRes Manager automatically generates it and completes the database entry with the respective metadata. Storage location for low-res files is freely configurable. Configurable low-res format (the chosen format must be available in the conversion library). Video parameter: codec, data rate, image seize, and de-interlacing Audio parameter: codec, data rate, quantization, and sample rate The copy is marked as low-res in the media list of the contribution. Availability of a low-res copy is shown in the Database Manager. Errors during low-res generation are reported in Database Manager. Database alignment based on the media list during overnights – checks if all registered low-res copies are available. If the check results find inconsistent data for the database and file server, LoRes Manager sends a command to the TransferBroker to generate the missing low-res file. LowRes Manager (Alpha) Hydrogen News AtomFactory, the version of Hydrogen Media Accelerator designed specifically to blend Apple’s Final Cut Pro into a busy broadcast workflow, writes QuickTime reference files to facilitate MXF integration. New in our product portfolio is the DigaSystem-AtomFactory Bundle which is available in different configurations for one or two servers and with up to 20 client licenses. Depending on the package, up to four ingest and fusion processes can be executed simultaneously. Hydrogen products support edit-while-write, making it possible to access video for editing or playout during the ingest process. Furthermore, the Hydrogen product family has been further developed and enhanced with new features. Both Hydrogen Media Accelerator (HMA) and Hydrogen Archive Catalyst (HAC) are now supporting XDCAM-HD – HAC including partial file restore. HMA supports all DVCpro formats including HD. <back to top> AUDIO NEWS Collection Element and BCS Cartwall Collection Element The newly developed Collection Element helps to keep track of the large number of elements stored in the various database tables. It contains comprehensive references to similar or identical topics but has a unique database ID and its own set of metadata. That way it can be used like a standard content element. Copying of database entries as well as other time intensive steps are no longer necessary. Because of the bi-directional referencing, a Collection Element “knows” all assigned contributions; vice versa a contribution “knows” all Collection Elements to which it is referenced. Cartwall functionality in BroadcastServer – Cart Element For our customers, the integration of Cartwall functionality in the BroadcastServer environment means a future proof, homogeneous software and hardware solution based on a common database. The functional range of Database Manager, DigAIRrange and TurboPlayer will be enhanced to allow the installation and the operation of a Cartwall according to the regulations of Radioformatics® for all program workflows. For this reason, one or more new tables “carts” are created in the Database Manager – the group function replaces the old cart container. The newly developed CartColorManager helps to create carts in the respective color codes. In one of Europe’s most modern broadcast centers, two radio stations and a news agency are working hand- in-hand. Adult Contemporary formatted radio Suedtirol1 and the traditional programming of Radio Tirol are complemented by the comprehensive scope of information through RMI Suedtirol Journal. RMI is producing an hourly news show and a 30-minute noon magazine, a total of 18 shows daily for nine stations within the region. The editorial staff is using a common content management system provided by DAVID Systems. Featuring integration with Axia, BroadcastServer and TurboPlayer are responsible for playout and scheduling. Regular operations at INFOradio Berlin Also in May, the Berlin based RBB channel INFOradio went into regular operations in its new premises. INFOradio offers a 24-hour news program with background information, sports, and stock market reports. With the new glass-enclosed broadcast studio in the heart of the main RBB building, new mixing desks and technical equipment as well as new networked workflows have also been introduced. INFOradio is the first RBB channel using TurboPlayer for playout. Besides the full versions in the broadcast studio and “cockpit,” dedicated versions of “GUI only” TurboPlayers give the sports and stock market teams an individual overview about their current rundowns. Specialized interfaces between Plato by the Berlin company Plantri and the DigaSystem allow the exchange of data and scheduling status between the production and planning environments. ORF DigiTV – 7th regional studio in operation With the commissioning of the ORF Regional Studio in Klagenfurt, Austria, the seventh out of nine ORF regional studios has converted to tapeless production. The DigiTV project started with a pilot project in Salzburg which was successfully completed in Summer 2006. The remaining eight studios are being implemented step-by-step according to a detailed roll-out plan. With DigiTV, all ORF studios will work in tapeless environments. The prototype for tapeless operation in TV was the proven tapeless radio workflow and the long-time good experiences with our software. With our Database Manager version 3.0, introduced in early 2006, and the powerful video and Moves Media applications, networked operations and the combined use of content across radio and TV became possible for the first time. WNYC - First TurboPlayer in the United States After 84 years of broadcasting from studios near the west side of the Brooklyn Bridge, New York radio stations WNYC and WNYC-FM are transitioning their operations to the Hudson Square neighborhood on the opposite side of lower Manhattan. The DigaSystem installation there, which is highlighted by the first deployment of TurboPlayer in the United States, has been widely expanded from 30 workstations to 200 to encompass the entire broadcast workflow including integration with video and the production of weekly long-form programs that are distributed nationwide by other public radio stations and globally on the Internet as podcasts. Paul Weiland, professional services manager for Silex Media Americas, was present in the control room on Tuesday, June 17, as Mayor Michael Bloomberg joined WNYC president and CEO Laura Walker to host the historic first broadcast from the new facility. <back to top> If you want to automatically receive our newsletter, please click the following link: http://www.davidsystems.com/index.php?id=47 DAVID Systems GmbH Ridlerstr. 31 b 80339 Munich, Germany Phone +49 (89) 540139-0 E-Mail: [email protected] Fax +49 (89) 540139-50 Internet: www.davidsystems.com Do you no longer want to receive our newsletter?
