Department of Labor’s Office of Research </strong>is the state’s leading producer of informaꢀon </p><p>and staꢀsꢀcs on the economy, workforce, occupaꢀons, and careers. Our mission is to produce, analyze, and deliver ꢀmely and reliable workforce informaꢀon and staꢀsꢀcs to assist in decision‐making for those planning economic development iniꢀaꢀves, for educaꢀon and training providers, and for job seekers and students who are seeking guidance in making career choices. </p><p>In support of these efforts, the Office of Research is pleased to provide the <strong>2015 InformaƟon for Workforce Investment Planning</strong><em>. </em>This publicaꢀon contains a variety of data on Connecꢀcut and each of the state’s five Workforce Development Areas including populaꢀon and populaꢀon density, labor force, employment and wages by industry sector, and new housing permits. In addiꢀon, detailed informaꢀon on residents in need of workforce investment services such as high school dropouts, Medicaid recipients, adult probaꢀoners, Temporary Family Assistance (TFA) recipients, and other residents with barriers to employment is included. </p><p>The <strong>2015 InformaƟon for Workforce Investment Planning </strong>also includes appendix tables and historical </p><p>data on the aforemenꢀoned topics for comparisons and trends analysis. Data sources are cited on each appendix table, which includes other State agencies, the Connecꢀcut Department of Labor and the U.S. Census Bureau. 2014, Connecꢀcut’s populaꢀon increased by 190,515 residents, from 3,405,565 to 3,596,677. </p><p> Oxford, Mansfield, and Ellington had the highest populaꢀon percentage changes statewide.&nbsp;The largest declines occurred in Sharon, Bridgewater, and Salisbury. </p><p> The Eastern WDA had the largest populaꢀon increase of the five WDAs, rising 7.1 percent over the term. </p><p> Statewide
