Bob Long, “The Packer Story Teller”, was a fourth round draft pick of the Green Bay Packers in 1964 after three years of college basketball and one Third Team All- American season of college football at Wichita State. Bob played on the great Green Bay Packers teams that won the NFL Championship in 1965 and the first two Super Bowls following the 1966 and 1967 seasons, becoming the only team in modern history to win 3 consecutive league championships. After a brief stint in Atlanta, playing for coach Norm Van Brocklin, Bob rejoined coach Vince Lombardi with the Washington Redskins in 1969, and then retired from football after finishing with the Los Angeles Rams in 1970. Bob was the only active player ever to play for Vince Lombardi in both Green Bay and in Washington. Bob has been very active in charity events in the state of Wisconsin. He served as President of the NFLPA Retirees for Wisconsin. He has helped raise over $1,000,000 for various charities with the Long Journey to the Super Bowl Raffle. He worked tirelessly for Easter Seals, the Ray Nitschke Foundation, Special Olympics, and served on the original MACC Fund board in 1975. Bob became known as “The Packer Storyteller” for his unique perspectives on his experiences with Lombardi and the Green Bay Packers. “The Original Number 80” brings a unique perspective from his behind the “superstar” experience of his more well-known Hall of Fame teammates. Bob also enjoyed great success off the field, bringing the Pizza Hut franchise to Northern Wisconsin in 1968, and forming R.A.L., handing “no debt” partnerships in the 1980s, which featured mobile home parks and apartments. R.A.L. also developed three Perkins restaurants and several motels. Surviving a stroke suffered MANUFACTURING PIONEERS SINCE 1972 in 1991, Bob continues to make appearances through his family’s company, Long’s Fundraising, which raises money for charities, Specialty Washers, Stamping, Fabrication, clubs and various organizations.
