Please contact the parish office for an extension. From the Desk of the Pastor On Monday, June 21, we celebrate the feast of St. Aloysius Gonzaga, S.J. (1568-1591.) Aloysius came from a powerful and wealthy family and served for a while as a page to one of the de’Medicis. While studying as a Jesuit scholastic in Rome, the plague struck the city killing many. Aloysius joined others in caring for the sick and the dying until he contracted the plague himself and died. He is known as a patron saint of students and of plague victims and care givers. In recent years victims and care givers of AIDS were added to his patronage. In our church, the statue of Aloysius is in the center of the three “boy saints” of the Jesuits and our AIDS memorial is at that altar. This year we added remembrance of the victims of COVID to the altar. As Pride Month continues, let us pause to remember those who succumbed to AIDS and those who live with it in their ordinary lives. St. Aloysius Gonzaga, pray for us! *********************************************************************** In other news, work will begin shortly on the bathrooms in Hurtado Hall. It is expected that they will be refurbished by September. The elevator connecting Hurtado Hall, the 15th St entrance and the second floor will be replaced sometime in mid-July. The renovation may take up to 12 weeks. In the interim, we will have chair lifts installed to connect all floors. Roofing and pointing work on the former parochial school has begun and will run through the summer. All of these projects are long overdue and have been in the planning stages for some time. There will be some inconvenience associated with the work and your patient understanding is appreciated.
