Department of Classical, Middle Eastern & Asian Languages & Cultures Queens College The Major in East Asian Studies (36 credits—code 032) When registering for the major, student must choose one track and choose courses accordingly. Students must maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher in courses used towards the major. China Track (code 3F) a. Language and area electives (18 credits) Two Chinese classes numbered higher than Chinese 204 Four of: Comparative Literature 221 “East Asian Literature II” East Asian Studies 230 “East Asian Civilization I” East Asian Studies 235 “East Asian Civilization II” East Asian Studies 250 “Modern Chinese Fiction in Translation” East Asian Studies 255/255W “Early Japanese Women’s Writings” History 140 “China to 1500” History 141 “China after 1500” c. Free electives (9 credits) Three further electives relevant to East Asia offered anywhere in the College. d. Senior seminar (3 credits) East Asian Studies 380 Japan Track (code 3G) a.
