She was born November 28, 1930 in Marshalltown, Iowa to John & Evelyn Cooper. Winnie graduated from Montour High School in 1948. Soon after, she moved to the White Horse Ranch in Nebraska to perform and tour the United States & Canada as a member of the all-female White Horse Troupe. She left the ranch to work on the racetrack where she met and married John Morgan in Louisville, Kentucky. Winnie was the first woman to take a horse to the post at the Kentucky Derby. Winnie & John where both involved in the racing industry for over 50 years. They settled in Hot Springs in the 1960's. Winnie worked at the Arkansas Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association at Oaklawn Racetrack. She was an active member of the Hot Springs National Park Kennel Club. She is preceded in death by a son at birth; her husband, John Morgan; her parents, John & Evelyn Cooper and her brothers, John & Tom Cooper.
