Explanation of Ozo Requirements ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ● Group Childcare Setting (25 hours) - caring for 5 or more non-familial related individuals ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ o Examples include:1 ​ ​ ▪ Babysitting (for 5 or more non-familial related individuals) ​ ​​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ▪ A daycare setting ​ ​ ​ ​ ▪ Summer day camp ​ ​ ​ ​ ▪ Winter day camp (contact local community centers) ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ▪ Sports or music clinics ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ▪ Holiday or weekend programming for elementary students ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ▪ Coaching sports, dance, drama teams, etc. ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ● Responsible Work Experience (paid or volunteer - 100 hours). These hours may be group ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ or private child care setting, other paid employment or consistent volunteer work. ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ *Note: Both Community Service done during one’s B’yachad summer and 25 hours of ​ ​ ​​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ required group childcare (listed above) does not count. ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ *Note: Tutoring Bar/Bat Mitzvah students or Judaic studies counts towards responsible ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ work/volunteer experience, not ongoing Jewish Education (see info re: education below). ​ ​ ​ ​​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ o Examples of private childcare ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ▪ One-on-one tutoring (secular or religious) ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ▪ Babysitting **RECOMMENDATION: The 125 hours of childcare and work experience should be done in ​ ​​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ your freshman and sophomore years, leaving only the CPR and Jewish education ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ requirements for your junior year. ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ● Currently active in one school/religious group, club, or team ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ *Note: Active in a religious group or club (USY/NFTY/NCSY/BBYO, etc) does not count ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ towards the requirement of “ongoing Jewish education.” ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ● Currently involved in ongoing Jewish education (during Junior Year) - Applicants must be ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​​ ​ ​ ​ ​ involved in a year-long, personally meaningful educational course during their Junior ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ year.
