GROUP TRAVELING: TRAVEL DATES: DAY 1 – TRAVEL DAY / MLK NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE / INTERNATIONAL CIVIL RIGHTS WALK OF FAME / APEX MUSEUM • Board your bus and begin your journey to Atlanta, GA • Grab lunch on your own and meet your JE Guide • Spend your afternoon at Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site and take self-guided tour through King’s boyhood home, Ebenezer Baptist Church, and his final resting place • Walk along the International Civil Rights Walk of Fame and learn highlights of the men and women, both black and white, who were brave warriors of justice • Take a guided tour of the APEX Museum for the chance to connect African, Africa-American diaspora, and Black Atlanta History • Walk through Centennial Olympic Park, Grant Park, or Historic Midtown depending on arrival time • Dinner • Check into your hotel and group devotions / debrief DAY 2 – NATIONAL CENTER FOR CIVIL & HUMAN RIGHTS MUSEUM / FREEDOM RIDERS NATIONAL MONUMENT / 16TH STREET BAPTIST CHURCH / KELLY INGRAM PARK • Breakfast and devotions • Check out of your hotel • Spend your morning taking a self-guided tour of the National Center for Civil and Human Rights to learn about American Civil Rights and how it connects to today’s struggle for Global Human Rights o STEM-related worksheets are available for students/teachers to complete as they journey through this museum • Lunch • Board your bus and begin your journey to Birmingham, AL • Stop in Anniston, AL and witness the location of the Freedom Riders attack and discuss the events that transpired • Take a tour of the 16th Street Baptist Church, the site of a white supremacist bombing that took place in the 1960’s* Joshua Expeditions | (888) 341-7888 | joshuaexpeditions.org ©Joshua Expeditions.
