Entries are arranged under the subject headings used in "Essential Skills for Georgia Schools." Criteria for inclusion were appropriateness for K-12 students and commercial availability of the item. Six books containing pictorial and photographic studies of Georgia and the songs of Georgia are included in the section on art and music. Thirteen biographies of Georgians are included in the second section. Novels, vignettes, short stories, and anecdotes are found in the 26 titles making up the section on language arts. The swamps, fishes, mines, ferns, and pteridophytes of Georgia are described in the collection under science. Thirty-two books in the social studies collection examine the culture and history of Georgia. Four titles are included from the videotape duplication collection. A list of the publishers' names and addresses is provided. These three publications are guides to printand nonprint materials about Georgia and Georgians. The information was provided by Georgia educators,and national and local publishers. Entries are arranged under the subject headings usedin Essential Skills for Georgia Schools adopted by the Georgia Board of Education in 1980. Essential Skills lists specific skillsobjectives in ten subject areas. Criteria for inclusion were appropriateness for K-12 students and commercial availability of the itemduring the project's research period. The grade leveldistribution leans toward theupper grades because of publishing output as translated to us. Most entries have recent copyright dates, yetsome entries with older copyright dates were included when the title had not beenproposed for listing in the earlier publication. When an author was responsible for several successive titles, the full name of the authorwas given beside the first title. A dotted line is in the author's position for the remainderof the titles in the succession. Included in this supplement is a list of Georgia-relatedresources available from our Videotape Duplication Collection. A copy of the catalog for this entire video collection may be obtained through the System Media Contact Person. Media specialists are also reminded to consultthe Instructional Television Schedule Book for additional productions. Every effort was made to locate currently available publications. However, before ordering, check the availability of print items in a recent copy of Books in Print and of nonprint items inone of the National Information Center for Educational Media (NICEM) indices. A list of publishers and their addresseshas been included at the back of the supplement to assistyou in ordering.
