Queen Victoria In 1819, Victoria was born in London. She became Queen in 1837 aged just 18. Victoria married Prince Albert in 1840 and they had 9 children. Albert died in 1861 so Victoria moved away to Balmoral castle. Victoria reigned for a total of 63 years until her death in 1901. Edward 7th Edward was Victoria and Albert’s son and was born in 1841 in Buckingham Palace. After his mother died, Edward became king in 1901. Edward married Alexandra of Denmark and they had 6 children. He reigned for 9 years and died in 1910. George 5th George was born in 1865. George became king in 1910. He married Mary of Teck and they had 6 children. He reigned for 25 years and died in 1936 aged 70. Edward 8th In 1894, Edward was the first-born son of George and Mary. Edward became King in 1936 after his father died but chose to give up his title as King. This meant that his brother, the next heir, would become the King. He married Wallis Simpson and had no children. Edward reigned for 10 months and died in 1972. George 6th George, Edward’s brother, was born in 1895. It was a shock to become King so quickly. He married Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon and they had 2 daughters. He died in his sleep in 1952. He reigned for 15 years. Elizabeth 2nd Born in 1926, Elizabeth grew up in London. As a young child, Elizabeth could not say her name properly so was nicknamed ‘Lilibet’. Elizabeth married Prince Philip and had 4 children.
