Bucklew Presidential Service Award Robert L Deaton, Montana Faculty Service Award Joan Watts Datsopoulos, Montana Alumni Award Most Inspirational Faculty Award Mehrdad Kia, History, has been named the most inspirational faculty member for the 1998-99 year. The recipient was selected by a vote of seniors graduated in 1996-97. Silent Sentinel, a student service organization, administers this award. A cash award is presented to the recipient by Silent Sentinel. 5 ^ Distinguished Scholar Award ^ William Derrick, Mathematical Sciences, has been selected to receive the Dis­ tinguished Scholar Award. The recipient was selected by the Research and Creative Activities Committee. The University of Montana Foundation pre­ sents a cash award to the recipient. ^ Distinguished Teacher Award ^ Harry Fritz, History, has been selected to receive the Distinguished Teacher Award. The recipient was selected by the Faculty Development Committee. The University of Montana Foundation presents a cash award to the recipient. ^ Administrative Service Award ^ Don Potts, Forestry, has been selected to receive the Administrative Service Award. The recipient was chosen by The University of Montana Administra­ tors for outstanding service to the University. ^ Outstanding Academic Advising Award Stanley Rose, Foreign Languages & Literature, has been selected to receive the Outstanding Academic Advising Award by a committee of faculty and students representing Academic Advising at the University. 6 ^ Academic Administrator Award Gloria Hewitt, Mathematics, has been selected to receive the Academic Admin­ istrator Award. The recipient was chosen from nominations submitted by fac­ ulty and staff to recognize outstanding performance by an academic depart­ mental chair or program director. ^ Annual Diversity Award ^ Maureen Cur now, Foreign Languages &. literature, has been selected to re­ ceive the Annual Diversity Award. Criteria for selection of the recipient of this award included a commitment to increase diversity among employees and stu­ dents on the University campus. Distinguished Service to 4 r International Education Award Peter Koehn, Political Science, the recipient of this award, was chosen by the International Committee. ^ John Ruffatto Memorial Award -4 r Maureen Fleming, Management, was selected to receive this award. John Ruffatto and Bill Papesh created this award to recognize a UM professor who gains practical knowledge through involvement in business and then commu­ nicated this knowledge to The University of Montana students. 7 ^ Outstanding Staff Awards ^ r Mona Weer, Research Sponsored Programs (Fall 1998), and Gerald “Frenchy” Michaud, Facilities Services (Spring 1999) were selected for this award by a Staff Senate committee from campus-wide nominations. ^ Outstanding Teamwork Award ^ Campus Mail Services received this award which recognizes an office, unit department or group of staff members for working exceptionally well together to perform the assigned mission. ^ Outstanding Service to the Campus Community Award Gordon “Gordy” Pace, Admissions &. New Student Services, received this award which recognizes outstanding service to the campus community by an individual who serves campus employees. ^ Outstanding Service to the Off-Campus Community Award Terry Conrad, Broadcast Media Center, received this award which recognizes outstanding service to the off-campus community by an individual who works with businesses, organizations and the general public. 8 ^ Outstanding Service to Students Award Sheila Heffernan, Physical Therapy, received this award in recognition of out­ standing contributions by an individual who provides competent, courteous service to students. ^ Outstanding Volunteer Award This award provides the opportunity to thank Mickey Hawkins for her many years of volunteer service to the School of Fine Arts. ^ Tom Boone Town and Gown Award ^ Mehrdad Kia, History, received this award which was established to recognize those faculty members who foster a deeper understanding between the Uni­ versity and Missoula through community involvement 9 Faculty Retirees —x— The
