OIL & GAS compressor ____ Subject: Upgraded Frame Group: Frames Number: 05-013 Rev 2 Sub Group: All Date: 29 Feb 07 Series: F, FS________ GE Oil and Gas has upgraded the running gear of the “F” frame. These upgrades include changes to the crosshead, crosshead pin, and connecting rod. Frames containing these upgraded components began shipping in early 2005, and are identified with the designation “FS” frame. All new frames being shipped from GE Oil & Gas contain these upgraded components. These upgrades are a further expansion of the upgrades available for the Chicago Pneumatic and Energy Industries “FE565DH, FE665DH, and FE765DH” frames. Building on technology from its proven Nuovo Pignone API618 process compressors, GE Oil & Gas has upgraded the running gear to provide greater robustness. The upgraded frames are now identified as the GE Oil & Gas, DS, ES and FS Tradition Series of high-speed compressors. The FS running gear has a different weight (before balance adjustment) than the “F” running gear. To prevent vibration, this weight must be accounted for when balancing the frame. The nominal crosshead weight of the FS frame is 128.01 lbs. This represents an increase of 12.11 lbs over the F crosshead weight of 115.9 lbs. F and FS frame balance weights are interchangeable.. • Proper running gear clearances are critical to safe and smooth compressor operations. Due to the change in running gear dimensions and materials, the recommended FS frame clearance specifications are not the same as those applicable to the F frame, consult the FS operations manual. • Proper connecting rod cap bolt torque is critical to safe compressor operation. The four connecting rod cap bolts have a recommended torque of 165 ft/lbs plus an additional 90 degree rotation. • New special tools – A connecting rod cap removal tool part number: 427-6200 and connecting rod cap tightening 90 degree gauge 427-6292. Details and instructions on the proper procedures and settings for the above points can be found in the FS frame operations and maintenance manual, or contact the Technical Assistance hotline – 832-978-9780. Attached is a parts listing for the FS connecting rod and crosshead, these items can be purchased in a kit form as part number: Kit 907. This kit includes the parts necessary for one throw of running gear upgrades, including the crankpin bearings. 2 OF 2 Compressor News\CN 05-013 .
