This is the chief fishing station of Penzance union and county court district, rural deanery of .Mount's Bay, and there is a fleet of about 400 boats, which are Penwith, archdeaconry of Cornwall, and diocese of Exeter, engaged in the mackerel and pilchard fishery. During the 1 mile south-west of Penzance, on the seacoast and Tolcarne 20 years between 1852 and 1872 an average of 6 millions 11tream. The church of St. Peter is a handsome granite (or about 1,900 tons) of mackerel, and about 13,500 hogs­ building in the Early English sty le; it consists of chancel, heads of pilchards, were brought in here per annum. The nave, south aisle and transept and south porch; it was principal landowners are Messrs. T. S. and William built in 1865-6: the seats are free, and will accommodate Bolitho, the Misses Carne, and D. P. I~e Grice, esq. The 400 persons: there is a stained window in the chancel.
