St Enoch’s Hogganfield Church are a frienDly, welcoming anD harD working congregation who care deeply for each other anD for the wiDer community. We are open-minDeD anD value people for who they are. We have voteD to Depart from the Church of ScotlanD’s traDitional position on sexuality. We have permission to call our Minister on a Reviewable Tenure basis. We are aware that there are areas of our church life we neeD to develop. We are confiDent that, with the right encouragement anD support, we have what it takes to make the Dreams we have for our church anD community come true. We are open to change, anD we have come to a place where we feel we are reaDy to make things happen. What are we doing? Our Worship is a mixture of both traditional and modern. We are open to different styles and approaches. We have enjoyed some more informal methoDs recently. We have the technology to use our TV screens anD the computer facilities to use DVD’s and the Internet with WIFI available. We also have a pipe organ - along with our Organist of over 40 years! - and a piano in the Sanctuary. We use the CH4 hymn book but also songs from other sources. On a normal SunDay we have about 60 attenDing who are welcomeD by our Teams. We have Young St Enoch’s who meet During the service anD although small in number are enthusiastically involved in the life of the Congregation. We have Seedlings who meet miD week, for pre-school children. We have a strong connection with Junction 12 who are local Scripture Union based project and a fantastic connection with Carntyne Primary School where our Minister is the Chaplain. Our Locum has continueD this work. We have a strong anD DeDicateD GuilD who meet on a weekly basis. We also have a Coffee Morning and Bric a Brac stall every week, which proviDes a fellowship for the Community. The Croft Visitors Centre was a Project we set up 5 years ago which aims to proviDe a place where folks can come to before the visits they have to their families in Barlinnie Prison. This has developed over the years, and The Croft has now become a charity in its own right. Although they are not baseD in the Church BuilDing as much, more in the Prison, we still have representation on the BoarD of the Charity. We are a Satellite hub for the North East Glasgow FooDbank, which has been running for arounD 18 months. We have our Facebook Page and a Website. St Enoch’s HogganfielD is a positive Church who at all times care for each other anD for the wiDer community. Outreach Croft Visitors Centre, North East Glasgow FooDbank, Christian AiD, Malta Mission Partners, Leprosy Mission, Unction 12, LoDging House Mission, Shoe Box Appeal for BlythswooD Trust, Visiting HousebounD members, Flowers DelivereD to those who woulD benefit from this, School Services with Carntyne Primary School, Summer anD Christmas Fayres, Erskine Hospital, Malawi Toilet Twinning (with the School) Parish Grouping We are one of the 3 Churches in the Provan Churches Grouping. We work well together, along with lots of support of each other’s Congregations. We have joint services, lent anD Christmas StuDies, Holy Week Services, as well as fundraisers. The grouping has a Development team. Going forwarD, we are going to be working much more closely as a parish grouping, with Kirk Sessions meeting regularly and the continuation anD Development of the work we are currently carrying out, together with new initiatives. Each Church will have its own dedicated Minister, but each Minister will also work across the 3 Churches as a team, using their particular skills as appropriate. This team ministry is an integral aspect of the call to St. Enoch’s HogganfielD, and it is important that our minister feels comfortable working in a team ministry set-up. Accommodation Our Church builDing consists of the main Sanctuary, with 2 halls, Vestry anD Session room. There is an office anD 2 kitchens. MoDern Toilets and disableD access throughout the builDing. We have a speaker system, loop system, computer/auDio visual technology anD Wi-Fi throughout the building. We have just replaced and upgraded our boilers. Our manse is nearby to the Church anD is a 2 storey house with 4 beDrooms, 2 sitting rooms, 1 stuDy, bathrooms anD utility rooms Fully carpeteD anD central heating throughout. The manse has been kept in gooD orDer. There is a large garden in the front. Where are we going? During our Vacancy we have been fortunate to have an excellent Locum to help guiDe anD support us over the past 6 months. We are self-supporting financially and our property is well lookeD after. Looking forwarD, we would like to see more families anD chilDren in our Church family. We are starting to see small changes in this in the recent months. Young St Enoch’s anD the SeeDlings are part of this. The Demographic of RiDDrie is changing anD more families are moving into the area, so looking at ways to encourage them to come to our church. As part of our Local Church review we are looking into caring for God’s worlD anD becoming an ECO Church. This is a long-term project for us. Who are we looking for? We are looking for the right person for us, but are also aware that we have to be the right Church for you. We feel confiDent that you are out there and look forwarD to meeting you. Someone approachable, open minDeD anD a gooD communicator with a willingness to help us grow. Someone who will share a vision with us and encourage us as we make things happen. Someone who will care for us as a Church Family anD be there for us, for whom we will care for anD be there for.
