Disney announces ABCD 2 Post the success of India’s first ever 3D dance movie ABCD - Any Body Can Dance, a youthful and vibrant film which became a nation-wide phenomenon garnering critical acclaim and box office, Disney India’s studio business today announced its sequel ABCD 2, directed by Remo D’Souza. The second chapter of the movie promises to be even bigger in scale with the current heartthrobs Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead along with Prabhudeva. Inspired from the true story of an Indian dance troupe that participated in the world Hip Hop Championships, this movie is slated to be shot extensively in Las Vegas, with over 10 songs and extravagant dance sequences that will add grandeur to the exciting script The film will go on floors in July. The Walt Disney Studios witnessed an unprecedented box office success in India in 2012 with MARVEL’s The Avengers which was distributed and marketed in India by UTV Motion Pictures. The film emerged as the 4th highest grosser of all-time amongst Hollywood films in India. Iron Man 3 released in 2013 became the highest Hollywood grosser for the year. More recently Captain America: The Winter Soldier became the second largest Hollywood film in India for the year 2014 so far and academy award winner Frozen emerged as the 3rd biggest Disney animation title in the region. Prior to this, Cars 2 and Pirates of the Caribbean 4 released in 2011 and were the biggest animation and live action titles of all time for Disney in the country. In 2010, Prince of Persia became the highest grossing western film in India that year. Earlier, Disney released its first live action Hindi feature Do Dooni Chaar in 2010 and subsequently after the success of the film, released Anaganaga-O-Dheerudu, a Telugu feature targeted at the southern audiences and second Hindi live-action film Zokkomon. Upcoming Disney branded movies include Khoobsurat, P.K., ABCD 2 and Jagga Jasoos. Coming up is an inimitable slate with films that span a wide variety of genres from drama, action and horror to romance, comedy and thriller including films like Heropanti, Pizza, Raja Natwarlal, Haider, Fitoor in Hindi, Sigaram Thodu, Anjaan, Purambokku, Yatchan in Tamil; Maleficent, Guardians of the Galaxy in English and many more. .
