Centre address Abernethy Barcaple, Castle Douglas, Kirkcudbrightshire, DG7 2AP Tel: 01557 820261 abernethy.org.uk/our-centres/barcaple Directions By road As a guide, the drive by car is 1.5 hours from Carlisle and Ayr, 2 hours from Glasgow, 2.5 hours from Newcastle upon Tyne and 3.5 hours from Manchester. From the East: From Dumfries, take the A75 towards Stranraer for 24 miles. After the second Castle Douglas roundabout, continue on the A75 for 4.9 miles. DO NOT TURN INTO RINGFORD. Pass the Old School Tearoom. Around the corner, turn right, signposted Barcaple. Take the first right onto a single-track road and continue along the road for 0.4 miles – bear left up the driveway, signposted Abernethy Barcaple. From the West: From Stranraer and Cairnryan, follow the A75 towards Dumfries. After Twynholm and the Kirkcudbright turn off (A762), continue for 0.5 miles before turning left – signposted Barcaple. *Note: Please do not use postcode on GPS/satnav systems as we are in a very large postcode area. If possible, use co-ordinates below instead, or use satnav to get you to this postcode: DG7 2AW. This will get you to the correct right-hand turning off the A75, then follow the driving instructions above. Barcaple satnav/GPS coordinates LAT: 54° 53' 31.0992" (54.891972°) LON: 4° 3' 51.4218" (4.064284°) By rail Dumfries railway station is 40 minutes away by car. From there you can catch a bus (500/X75 or 501/502) to Castle Douglas. The bus station is just across the road from the train station. Get off the bus at the swimming pool bus stop in Castle Douglas. To get the best train travel deal contact one of the following: National Rail Enquiries: Tel 03457 484 950 Web nationalrail.co.uk Trainline: Web thetrainline.com By bus Take the bus from Dumfries to Castle Douglas and get out at the swimming pool bus stop. This bus stop is served by the 500/X75 bus and the 501/502 bus from Dumfries train station. https://www.dumgal.gov.uk/timetables By ferry The Larne – Cairnryan ferry terminal is only 50 minutes away from Barcaple. On arriving in Cairnryan follow the signs to the A75 Dumfries. When on the A75, follow the instructions as above. Guests coming from Northern Ireland can take the National Express bus straight through from Belfast to Castle Douglas. Note: whichever means of public transport you use, the Centre will collect you from the bus stop at Castle Douglas. You can arrange this with your host in advance or with the Centre direct. .
