The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding SB 417 (Sen. Lucido). 2. Testimony regarding SB 418 (Sen. MacDonald). 3. Reported HB 4516 (Rep. LaFave) with recommendation and immediate effect. 4. Reported HB 4517 (Rep. VanWoerkom) with recommendation and immediate effect. 5. Presentation by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services regarding Coronavirus. The Chair called the meeting to order at 1:06 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair VanderWall, Sen.(s) Bizon, LaSata, MacDonald, Theis, Brinks, Hertel, Santana, and Wojno, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Bizon to adopt the meeting minutes from February 20, 2020. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 418: Bill Flory, Michigan Association for Justice – Oppose The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 417 and SB 418: Christine Shearer, Michigan Association of Health Plans – Support The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. MacDonald to report HB 4516 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The Chair made a motion to recommend immediate effect for HB 4516. Without objection, immediate effect was recommended. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Brinks to report HB 4517 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The Chair made a motion to excuse absent members from the meeting. Without objection, Sen. Johnson was excused from the meeting.
