Adam Boulton, Sky News Political Editor

Adam Boulton, Political Editor, Sky News Adam Boulton was a founding member of the Sky News team. He was invited to set up the Sky political team, which pioneered innovative use of live analysis and pictures. Since those early days it is reckoned that he has spent more hours covering breaking stories than any other British television reporter. In 2002 Adam won the prestigious Judge's Award at the Royal Television Society journalism awards ceremony. Previously TV-am's Political Editor, Adam has been a member of the Parliamentary Lobby for twenty years. He has fronted a wide variety of programmes from his Millbank base in the very heart of Westminster. He presents the Sky News flagship current affairs programme Sunday with Adam Boulton which provides an in-depth analysis of the week's news. Adam's also enjoys the extended interview format - Tony Blair, John Major, Margaret Thatcher, Al Gore, Lech Walesa and President Hosni Mubarak are among an illustrious list of political guests who have appeared with him. Adam's interests are wide-ranging and his One on One interviews over the years have also included many stars from film, television, theatre and music. Adam presented Sky News PMQs programme until the recent changes in the parliamentary schedule. He has also taken his current affairs road show, Forum, around the country and as far afield as Israel and the United States. Adam passionately believes that the role of a 24-hour television news channel is to break news. In 1995 he was the only journalist to predict live, and then report John Major's leadership resignation. He was also the first television journalist to report the Thatcher resignation live from Downing Street. He is the only TV reporter ever to have doorstepped the Queen on political matters live on camera. In the run up to the 1997 General Election Adam was the first broadcaster with all the accurate developments on the election announcement. At election time, of course, Adam really comes into his own. Not only has he been a presenter for all Sky News election night programmes but, during the last campaign, he also presented The Boulton Factor. Clive James described the programme as "the best entertainment for grown-ups". The Mail On Sunday called the appearance of William Hague on The Boulton Factor, “the finest political interview I have ever seen". .
