State has witnessed unprecedented development : Deepender Singh Hooda By : INVC Team Published On : 10 Aug, 2014 12:33 PM IST INVC, Chandigarh, Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda today announced a bonanza of incentives for ex- servicemen and Armed Forces personnel which included employment to dependents of martyr soldiers who sacrificed their lives in war of 1962 or in any later war, increase in pension of children of martyrs and in amount of “kanyadan” being given on wedding of daughters of exservicemen and also announced construction of flats to be given on concessional rates to serving soldiers, exservicemen and para-military personnel. The Chief Minister, who was addressing a largely attended sammelan of ex-servicemen at Jhajjar announced that Government would provide employment in Group C or D category to one dependent of those martyr personnel of Armed Forces and Para Military Forces who were domicile of Haryana and had sacrificed their lives in the war of 1962 or in any other later war. He also announced to increase the pension being given to children of martyrs from Rs 200 to Rs 500 per month and said that now on the wedding of daughters of ex-servicemen, financial assistance (Kanyadan Rashi) of Rs 51000 would be given instead of Rs 21000.He also announced free travel facility in State Roadways buses for Gallantry Award Winner soldiers. The Chief Minister said that those ex-servicemen and serving soldiers who would take loan from banks to get flats allotted by State Government on concessional rates, the Government would bear their burden of interest. He said that the Government has decided to construct 50,000 residential flats for serving soldiers, ex-servicemen and para-military personnel and allot these to them on concessional rates. The first phase of construction of these flats has already begun and registration for flats has also commenced at Faridabad,Gurgaon,Mahendergarh, Jhajjar, Panchkula, Pinjore, Rohtak, Palwal, Rewari, Sampla and Bawanikhera. Eighteen thousand flats are being constructed at Rohtak for the same purpose by a private builder. The Chief Minister lauded the contribution of soldiers of Haryana in armed forces saying that although the State has 1.3 per cent of the total geographical area of the country and accounts for merely two per cent of the total population in the country yet every tenth soildier in Armed Forces hails from Haryana. The State has about 19 lakh serving soildiers, ex-servicemen and their dependents. He said that the freedom fighters in the State were getting a monthly pension of Rs 25,000 which is the highest in the country. During last nine years, the State Government has made considerable increase in pension, scholarships and grants admissible to serving soldiers, ex-servicemen and their dependents. The lumpsum amount being given to Gallantry Award winners and Peace Time Gallantry Award Winners has also been increased. He was all praise for the outstanding sports persons of Haryana saying that out of total medals won by India in recent Glasgow Commonwealth Games, 35 medals have been bagged by sports persons of Haryana.He also enlisted a number of welfare schemes and programmes implemented by the State Government during last nine years to raise socio-economic status of all sections of the society. Mr Hooda reminded that during the Lok Sabha elections of 1999, the ex-servicemen had given their massive support to him and he again sought their cooperation saying that the Congress party has to be made stronger for the ensuing assembly elections. He urged the ex- servicemen to attend in large number the rally to be held at Panipat on August 24. Member Parliament, Mr Deepender Singh Hooda said that the State Government has implemented a number of schemes for the welfare of ex-servicemen and their dependents. During last nine years, he said, the State has witnessed unprecedented development. The State which accounts for only two per cent of the total population of the country produces 40 per cent of the foodgrains of the country. President of Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee, Mr Ashok Tanwar criticized the Central Government for politicizing the issues of the Army.It was for the first time that the country has no full time Defence Minister.Therefore, how could the soldiers www.internationalnewsandviews.com think of their welfare by the Central Government. Education Minister, Mrs Geeta Bhukkal criticized the propaganda of the BJP leaders to highlight Gujarat Model and added that in Glasgow Commonwealth Games only Haryana Model worked.
