Bibliography of Cuban Philatelic Literature -- Internet Edition Ernesto Cuesta <C> El Coleccionista (The Collector) La Habana, Cuba: Revista bimestral de la Asociación "Cuba Filatélica" (Journal of the "Philatelic Cuba" Society). Published every other month. Known issues are: Issue No.1, January-February 1915 to Epoch II, Issue No.4, July-August 1916 (last issue seen). <HORN9600> under item 23830 cites a total of 9 issues, the last being from August 1916, as reported in the Ricketts Annual Report No. 17. Size is 17.5 by 25 cm. Original copies of this journal can be found in my library (purchased at the October 2003 Huys-Berlingin AG auction of the Joseph Hackmey philatelic library--Lot 7223). The Society included all sorts of collectors, but primarily philatelists, numismatists, and deltiologists and covered all three topics regularly in its journal. A copy of their Membership Application is available in my files. Editorial congratulating Society member José Gutiérrez Hernández for a certificate honoring him issued by all of the philatelists of the Oriente province of Cuba, a copy of which is shown on p.15. Various news about the Society and its members, mostly of a social nature. This particular issue includes notes about the expulsion of two Society members (unstated causes for propriety reasons). Biographical details about several members of the "Cuba Filatélica" philatelic society. The members featured were Leoncio Galán Huerta (numismatist), Vicente Soler Navarro (Society representative for Camagüey, deltiologist), Carlos Buckalew (deltiologist), and Pedro Cabrera Triana (philatelist, correspondent from the town of Banes). Listing of current members of the Havana philatelic society "Cuba Filatélica" with their addresses followed by some code letters and numbers which are not explained in this issue of the journal. At the time of publication, the society had 61 members (member no.21 is blank by reason of having been expelled from the Society for unstated cause as specified on p.3, first paragraph under "Notas de la Asociación"). This regular column provides news of new issues from various countries. Notice that with this issue an elections ballot for officers of the society will be included and that the results of the election will be published in the January issue of the journal. The Editorial indicates that currently there are 88 members in the Society and encourages everyone to vote in the election. The last paragraph of the Editorial announces the inclusion in this issue of the journal of a proposition by Mr. S. Rodríguez (deltiologist). <C1509e> El Coleccionista "A los miembros todos de la Asociación Cuba Filatélica" ("To All Members of the Cuba Filatélica Society") C, No.5, September-October 1915, pp.20-21, Span. Proposal to the membership of the Cuba Filatélica Society by member Mr. S. Carraté F. to make its journal El Coleccionista a monthly journal instead of bimonthly (also see <C1509a>). In order to finance the more frequent publication of the journal, Mr. Carraté proposes an increse in annual Society dues of 1 peso (equivalent to USD $1 at the time) to 2 pesos (in Cuba, the U.S., and Latin-American countries). The proposal is followed by a request from the Society's secretary for members to send a postcard with a simple yes or no vote on Mr. Carraté's proposal by November 30, which will be followed by a tally of votes and publication of results in the January issue of the journal. <C1509f> El Coleccionista "Candidatos" ("Candidates") C, No.5, September-October 1915, p.21, Span.
