Write down 3 things that you know about Mark, the author of this book, so far. 1 – 2 – 3 - Mark’s mother, Mary, used her home as a rallying place for Jesus. What needs to change about your home? How can you more fully welcome Jesus and His modern-day followers into your house? Day 2 – Read Acts 15:36-41; Colossians 4:7-18; Philemon 19-25 and II Timothy 4:9-11. Why is it important to know that the relationship of Paul and Mark had been restored? Is there a relationship in your life that needs restoration? What steps can you make toward restoration? Day 3 – Read I Peter 5:12 – 14. How does Peter refer to Mark in verse 13? Now we know that Mark had close relationships with Barnabas, Paul and Peter. Who are the primary people in your life who have nurtured your faith in the Lord? Write them a thank-you note or call them and thank them this week. Day 4 – Read Mark 1:1-15 again and circle all of the times that the word “immediately” is used. If you could ask God to do one thing, “Immediately” for you, what would it be? If you could do one thing “immediately” for God, what do you think that He would want it to be? What does this phrase mean to you: “Delayed obedience is disobedience.” Day 5 – Read Mark 1:9-11 and Matthew 3:13 – 17. What details does Matthew give to us that Mark has left out? Have you been baptized yet? What does baptism represent to a believer? Day 6 – Read Mark 1:12 & 13 and Matthew 4:1-11. What details does Matthew give that Mark has left out? Have you ever spent time in the wilderness of life? What did you learn there? Day 7 – Read Mark 1:16-45 and circle the word “immediately” every time that it is used. What does it mean to be a “fisher of men”? Why do you think that Jesus told the man who was healed of leprosy not to tell anyone? Notes - Lesson 2 Mark 1:16 – 20 – What does it mean “to follow” Christ? Make sure that you have circled the word “immediately” every time that it is used. In what two ways did Jesus reveal His authority in this passage? How has Jesus revealed His authority in your life? Day 3 – Read Mark 1:29 – 34, Luke 16:10 and Matthew 8:14 – 17. Make sure that you circle the word “immediately” in the reading from Mark. Why did Jesus heal Peter’s mother-in-law? In what ways have you served Jesus since you were healed of sin? Day 4 – Read Mark 35 – 45. Circle the word “immediately” every time that it is used. Why do you think that Jesus told the cleansed leper not to tell anyone? What are the issues that Jesus has healed you from? Day 5 – Read Mark 2. Circle the word “immediately” every time that it is used. Why was it significant that Jesus ate at Matthew’s house? Who brought the paralyzed man to Jesus? Who are you responsible for bringing to Jesus? Day 6 – Read Mark 3. Circle the word “immediately” every time that it is used. List the miracles that you have read about thus far in the Book of Mark. What does it mean to be a disciple of Jesus? Day 7 – Read Mark 4:1-34. Circle the word “immediately” every time that it is used. What is the purpose of a “parable”? What is your favorite parable thus far in the Book of Mark? Notes - Lesson 3 Mark 2:1 & 2 – Mark 2:3 – Mark 2:4 – Mark 2:5 – Jesus saw their faith! Your faith is visible to Jesus! Mark 2:6 – Luke 5:17 Mark 2:7 & 8 – Mark 2:9 – Mark 2:10 & 11 – Start walking and keep walking! Mark 2:12 – Matthew’s House: Mark 2:13-17 – John 3:16 – John 17 Mark 2:16 – Mark 2:17 – You are not a sanctuary light but a street light! What does faith look like from heaven’s perspective? What are some of the daily choices that you can make in order to make your faith visible? Day 2 – Read Mark 2:13 – 17. Is the word “immediately” used in this passage? If so, circle it! What does it mean to you to “go to Matthew’s house” after hearing the teaching this week? Ask the Father to give you friends who don’t know Him and then spend time with these people. Make a list of your friends who need to know Jesus and pray for them today. Day 3 – Read Mark 2:18 – end. Have you circled the word “immediately” in this passage? Why did the church leaders give Jesus such a hard time? Have you ever dealt with jealousy on a personal level? How did you respond to it? Day 4 – Read Mark 3. Have you circled the word “immediately” in this passage? What do you think that Jesus was specifically looking for in His disciples? What do you think that Jesus is looking for in modern-day disciples? Day 5 – Read Mark 4. Have you circled the word “immediately” in this passage? What are some of the things in life that you are afraid of? What is the Bible verse that you can quote when you are dealing with fear? Day 6 – Read Mark 5:1-20. If you see the word “immediately” be sure and circle it! Why do you think that Mark spends so much time talking about how Jesus handled demonic powers? Have you ever been attacked by the enemy? How are we supposed to fight the enemy today? Be practical and make a list of the things that you can employ in your battle against Satan. Day 7 – Read Mark 5:21 – end. If you see the word “immediately”, circle it! How long had the woman bled? How old was the little girl? Why do you believe that this detail is important in the story? Perhaps you should write it out and be prepared to share it. Write out a list of 10 people who you would like to share your story with. Pray that God will open up that door for you. Day 2 – Read Mark 4:10-20 again; Also read Matthew 6:33. What has hardened your heart over the years? Ask God to soften your heart. What are some of the rocks in your life that inhibit the growth of the Word? How can you get rid of those rocks? What are you worried about? Can you give those worries to Jesus? How do riches deceive people? What other things have you desired besides Jesus? Day 3 – Read Mark 4:21 – end.
