WHEREAS, an annual Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy Plan (CEDS) is i useful tool to plot Nye County's progress in meeting objectives and setting priorities for economic Jevelopment activities and to stimulate new private and public investments to provide employment ant growth opportunities; and WHEREAS, the Nye County Commission has appointed Nye County participants to thc Regional Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) Program Committee that ha: developed and adopted a Regional Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy that includes Nyc County; and WHEREAS, the Regional Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy Committee ha! recommended adoption of the CEDS by the Board of County Commissioners of Nye County; now NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Nye County Commissioners of the Count! ~f Nye, State of Nevada, does hereby accept and adopt the proposed CEDS Plan and authorizes i submittal to the U.S. Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration. Nevada had been the fastest growing state in the nation for 19 consecutive years untif 2006 when they were just edged out uf the tile by .I%by Arizona, per the US. Census Bureau. The Pahrurnp area has grown at an average rate of 7.2% per year since the mid-1990s. Howey8r, the rest of the county has remined relatively stable with some towns experiencing a slight decline in population.
