Derrick Rodgers provides an inspirational talk on his own journey through his college selection process and how through hard work and determination he secured a college scholarship at Arizona State. Derrick will relate his experience going through the college recruiting process to high school student athletes, parents and coaches and how Play In College can help them through their own experiences. This talk will benefit all student-athletes aspiring to play in college, not just football players. About Derrick Rodgers: Former National Football League (NFL) player for eight seasons from 1997 to 2004. Derrick played college football for Arizona State University, and earned All-American honors. A third-round pick in the 1997 NFL Draft, he played professionally for the Miami Dolphins and New Orleans Saints of the NFL. Derrick received an athletic scholarship to attend Arizona State University, and played for the Arizona State Sun Devils football team. As a junior in 1996, Rodgers was recognized as a consensus first-team All-American as a defensive lineman. The Miami Dolphins selected Rodgers in the third round (92nd pick overall) of the 1997 NFL Draft, and he played for the Dolphins from 1997 to 2002. He finished his NFL career playing for the New Orleans Saints in 2003 and 2004. In eight NFL seasons, he played in 116 regular season games, started 111 of them. Derrick currently serves on Board of Advisors for Play In College.
