At the time of during this glorious writing the foundations are laid. The construction of the main framework is due to start next week and be completed before the circulation of this edition of Les Nouvelles. A summer I look out huge thanks to Mr Brian Le Marquand and his team for his commitment to the cause towards the Village and for their continued fund-raising efforts. Thanks too to all who have kindly donated Green and I’m delighted towards the project. How lucky we are in the Parish. Two major projects in the past to see members of the St three years, the refurbishment of the Rectory and the Pavilion on the Village Green, both possible because of generous benefactors who have funded at least half in the form of Right: Martin’s Battle of donations. I wish I could invest ‘my few shillings’ and get a 100% return. I am sure some parishioners, in particular those living in Maufant Village, will have given up on the future of their roads and may think we have too! Not the case; much work has been undertaken and another meeting was held at St Saviour’s Parish Hall on 26 June 2014 between Summer 2014 Les Nouvelles 5 Cambrette Half Page Cambrette Care and Nursing Services Keep enjoying life in your own home representatives of both parishes together with representatives of Property Holdings and the Treasury. The Parish lawyer was tasked with preparing Parish Assembly Notices for both parishes but it is anticipated that a pre-Assembly meeting will be held at Maufant beforehand to explain to all residents the possible consequences of the parishes taking over responsibility. This has been highlighted during the early summer when some residents of Maufant Village made strong representations against the new bus route travelling through a small part of the village. They asked that it be discontinued as the estate was entirely private! Private it may be but currently still maintained by ‘the public’. It’s no wonder this matter has taken so long to progress. In concluding I cannot but mention that this will be our Editor, Graham Crosby’s, last edition of Les Nouvelles. As they say ‘from small acorns do great oak trees grow’ and I know everyone would like me to thank Graham for the tremendous amount of work and commitment he has given in producing this excellent community magazine. Starting out from being one of the few parishes without a magazine Graham has produced and edited ten excellent editions of Les Nouvelles. I know that many people look forward to receiving the next edition, even people from outside the Parish, and I am delighted that parishioner Mrs Karen Stone has taken on Please call us to discuss your care needs, or if the challenge and is now eager to produce her first edition in November.
