Two car spaces will be provided on site. The area of the site is approximately 169m2. TYPES OF WASTE GENERATED The following types of waste are most commonly generated within an office development: • General landfill rubbish; • Recyclables such as glass, paper, cardboard, cartons, plastics with ID Codes 1 to 7, steel & aluminium cans; • Compostable organic material (food scraps); • Hard rubbish such as broken furniture and large objects; and • Sundry waste types such as electronic waste. WASTE GENERATION RATES Listed below are the waste generation estimates for the development in accordance with the Sustainability Victoria guidelines based on City of Melbourne — Guidelines for preparing a waste management plan 2015: For office space: Space type Rubbish Generation Comingled Recyclables Office 10 L per 100m2 per day 10 L per 100m2 per day Based on the proposed total office NLA of 660.46m2 the total waste generated by the development is therefore: Total Development Rubbish Generation Comingled Recyclables Offices 331 L/week 331 L/week Proposed Bin Type 360 L 360 L Number of Bins required j 1 Once per week (Private Once per week (Private Collection Frequency collection) Collection) p BIN TYPES Below are the types of bins that the private contractor will provide with the common dimensions: Bin Storage Capacity Colour Waste Type Comments Type Average dimensions are: Dark Green Height 1.1m, Width 0.68m, 360L Body with General Garbage Depth 0.848m matching lid Total floor area required: 0.57m`/bin Average dimensions are: Dark Green Height 1.1m, Width 0.68m, Commingled 360L Body with Depth 0.848m recyclables yellow lid Total floor area required: 0.57m2/bin The private waste contractor once engaged will provide the bins for the development. WASTE STORAGE 1 x 360L bins for general rubbish and 1 x 360L bins for recycling will be provided for the development by the private contractor Both bin types will be stored in the dedicated storage area within the car park. Building users will dispose of all type of rubbish in the dedicated bins in the storage area. The service area will be mechanically ventilated to help reducing odours related to the waste. The staff, cleaner or building manager will ensure that the bin storage area remains clean and clear to avoid attracting vermin and maintain easy access. The cleaner/office manager will be responsible for emptying the office bins into the shared bins in the car park. Access to a tap will be provided in the storage area. Location of bins is highlighted in the figure below (green and yellow): LO CU 00 Figure 3: Example of bin storage area within the car park ID V WASTE COLLECTION & DISPOSAL Private collection is proposed for the development as the kerbside around the site are limited and the proposed bins would encroach on the pedestrian area on collection day. Collection will be made directly from Rokeby Street. The private waste contractor will stop in front of the car park entrance on Rokeby Street and roll the bins directly from their storage area to the truck and put them back in the storage area once empty. Collection of both general rubbish and recycling will occur once per week. The collection will require two separate trucks, one each for general rubbish and recyclables. Collection will occur outside of peak traffic hours and will be in accordance with EPA and The City of Yarra requirements, so as to minimise any traffic disturbance for staff or visitors entering or exiting the site. OTHER WASTE TYPES The private contractor will provide hard waste collection. Method and frequency of collection will be confirmed once the private contractor is engaged. E-Waste will be banned from landfill from 1st July 2019. Occupants will be required to dispose of their E-waste at their nearest drop-off point. Nearest e-waste recycling drop-off point can be found on Planet Ark's Recycling Near You at https://recyclinqnearyou.com.au/electrical. The following section is sourced from the City of Yarra Waste and Recycling web page. Apart from the collection of recyclables from the bins provided, the occupants can actively donate/dispose of other non-regular rubbish such as electronic waste and large objects at the nearby Waste Transfer Station listed below: Boroondara Waste Transfer Station Address: 648 Riversdale Road, Melway Ref 60 B1 Phone: 03 9278 4444 Opening Hours: Monday to Friday 1pm to 4pm, Saturday 8am to 4pm and Sunday Sam to 4pm (green waste and recycling only).
