Through the generosity of donors like you and wise financial investments, the OCF set new records in grants, fundraising, and programs. 2013 was an historic year as it marked a year of growth and new beginnings. OCF launched our first-ever diocesan-wide capital campaign in the 38 year history of the Diocese of Orange and relocated our offices from Marywood in the city of Orange to Christ Cathedral Campus in Garden Grove. The For Christ Forever capital campaign represented our vision to ensure the legacy of faith continues to grow and strengthen our community, and impact our lives both today and in decades to come. It represented an opportunity to thrive in covenant with God and one another and to show unity among the Orange County’s Catholic faithful. Truly remarkable is the fact that during the 2013 Parish Phase of the campaign, 22,527 parishioners pledged gifts totaling more than $80 million. 128 members of our presbyterate made sacrificial gifts totaling $732,070; an average gift of $5,719. The altar in our new Christ Cathedral will be dedicated in honor of the priests of our diocese. We look back on our fiscal year with heartfelt appreciation and admiration to the donors who made possible the funding for each of the five Campaign priorities: 2013 Pastoral Services Appeal (PSA) supported ministries, Christ Cathedral campus restoration and renovation, Catholic Education, Priest Retirement, and Local Parish Support. We look ahead to 2014 and beyond as we journey forward to raise additional funds to support the renovation of Christ Cathedral and provide continued support for our Catholic Schools. Our journey also includes annual campaign events and programs such as the Pastoral Services Appeal, our Conference on Business & Ethics, Wills and Trusts Week, and Parish Stewardship Education. We will continue to wisely invest and manage donor funds in support of Catholic values with utmost professionalism, transparency and ethics. The Orange Catholic Foundation belongs to you. We are proud to serve donors whose gifts are both large and small. Each gift is meaningful and will enable us to respond together to the needs of our parishes, schools, and our community of communities, today and for many years to come. We are grateful for your prayers and support. Jim Tecca Cynthia Bobruk Chairman of the Board President and Executive Director 4 | orange catholic foundation 2013 annual report PASTORAL CENTER: BISHOP’S OFFICE 13280 CHAPMAN AVENUE, GARDEN GROVE, CA 92840 September 8, 2014 The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Dear brothers and sisters in the Lord, As I am writing these words as an introduction to the OCF report on the feast day of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, - one of the ancient feast days in the life of the Church in the West - I recall the Gospel for Mass today from St. Matthew which says that “ All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: Behold the virgin shall be with child and they shall bear a son, and they shall name him Emmanuel, which means ‘God is with us.’ “ Thank you for your generosity and response to so many needs in our local Church this past year. This shows the same trust that Mary shows in the Gospel by responding to the call of God to do His will. Your witness of Faith also reflects the words of the Gospel for today that shows truly that “God is with us.” As we respond each day as well to the call of the Lord in our lives, our local Church has given a great example by the over 22,000 families that have made pledges in support of our first ever capital campaign, For Christ Forever. This is a great example of sacrificial giving to build a foundation of Faith for the continued growth in the mission of our local Church. This is a great occasion of gratitude and thanks for the entire Body of Christ. All of these gifts represent hours of dedication, work, faith and prayer in leadership at every level in the Diocese. The time, talent, and treasure represented here, and the hours and work of dedication help to build a foundation with the Lord for the continued life of our Diocese into the future. This is also a great example for the rest of the Church in the United States. Most of all, I am very grateful to the Lord for all of the faces, names and families that I now know and see behind these gifts. Many of these I am blessed to call friends and co-workers in the Lord. Thank you for your generosity, sacrifice, love and the witness of your Faith reflected in these pages. This is truly a very blessed time in the history of the Diocese of Orange, especially as we draw near the 40th Anniversary of the establishment of our Diocese in 2016. We look forward to a future full of hope, and I am confident that the goals of the For Christ Forever campaign will not only be met, but will pave the way as we continue our journey of Faith that the Lord has marked out for us. Once again, I thank you for all in the challenging but blessed time where the Lord has brought us together. Please know of my prayer for you and your families and loved ones.
