Index All names are arranged last name, first name, or last name, nickname/title, so Old Sleuth is indexed as “Sleuth, Old.” All pseudonyms and story and novel titles are indexed according to their most famous and well-known arrangement, so Les Miserables is put in the L section—it would be an act of mulish perversity and unfriendliness to the reader to put Les Miserables in the Ms—but The Adrets Inn is put in the A section. Generally, I’ve indexed names and titles where readers are most likely to look for them.
