Despite this many of our institutions, our corporations, our education systems and ourselves, have not yet realized it. History fast forwards to the future but we too often hold back trying to mould this new complex reality to a simpler time. Josephine explores and articulates this critical period of transformation and challenges us to think and to act differently in our world. She believes we need a different way of framing, creating, innovating and being in the world if we are to live well, prosper and safeguard the future. She demonstrates the very real need to go beyond the present growth paradigm, to decentralize and distribute innovation, creativity and design and to embrace complexity through new organizational, cultural and leadership models. Josephine regularly delivers international presentations and is an advisor to European Futures and Research platforms. She lectures in masters and executive education programs at a number of UK and European Universities and is Visiting Professor at the University of Northumberland at the faculty of Art and Design and Social Sciences. Josephine was appointed Senior Director of Trends and Strategy at Philips Design, in the Netherlands in 1997. She left Philips in 2009 to return to the UK and her company, Beyond20:21st Century Stories explores our Change of Age. She studied History and Politics at Warwick University and has lived and worked in the UK, Italy and Holland. Ezio Manzini Chair Professor UAL, London, and DESIS Network For more than two decades he has been working in the field of design for sustainability. Most recently, his interests have focussed on social innovation, considered as a major driver of sustainable changes. In this perspective he started DESIS: an international network of schools of design specifically active in the field of design for social innovation and sustainability (http://www.desis-network.org). Presently, he is Chair Professor of Design for Social Innovation at the University of the Arts London (London), Honorary Professor at the Politecnico di Milano and Guest Professor at Tongji University (Shanghai) and Jiangnan University (Wuxi). In addition to his continuous involvement in the design for sustainability arena, he has explored and promoted design potentialities in different fields, such as: Design of Materials, in the 80s; Strategic Design, in the 90s (starting a Master in Strategic Design); Service Design, in the last ten years (starting the specific courses in Service Design). His most recent book is “Design, When Everybody Designs. An Introduction to Design for Social Innovation”, MIT Press 2015. Franz Fishler Chairman, European Union Scientific Steering Committee for Expo 2015 Franz Fischler chairs the Expo 2015 EU Scientific Steering Committee. He is an Austrian politician an was the European Union's Commissioner for Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries (1995–2004). Currently he is President of the European Forum Alpbach. Born in Absam, Tyrol he studied agriculture at the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences Vienna, and finished as Dr rer.nat.oec. in 1978.[1] He worked as University assistant from 1973 to 1979, then for the Tyrol Chamber of Agriculture, finally as its director from 1985 to 1989. Between 1989 and 1994 Fischler was Federal Minister for Agriculture and Forestry, and since 1990 elected Member of National Council. In 1995 he became European Commissioner in Brussels, responsible for agriculture and rural development.I n 1999 fisheries also became part of his responsibilities. At the 1999 Berlin summit, Franz Fischler had significant influence on the Agenda 2000. In 2011 Austria has decided to nominate Dr. Franz Fischler as a candidate for the position of director general of FAO. Massimo Montanari University of Bologna Massimo Montanari (1949) teaches Medieval Economic History and Food History at Bologna University (Department of History and Cultures). He taught seminars and lectures all over Europe, Japan, Canada, the United States, Mexico, Colombia, Brazil. He is the founder and director of the Master "Storia e cultura dell'alimentazione" (Food history and culture) instituted in 2002 at Bologna University, then become a european master held in collaboration with the universities of Tours and Barcelona (since 2009, Tours and Bruxelles). He has been up to 2008 the editor-in-chef of the international review "Food & History", published by Brepols, Turnhout (Belgium). From 1979 onwards, he published a number of books about these topics, translated in several languages. They combine theatre and dance. In 2013 Valentina Bianda joined, who got a degree at the European Theatre Institute in Berlin (DE). The variety of backgrounds and experiences allows for the use of different theatre languages and collaborations with or artistic groups. They operate in Germany, Switzerland and Italy.
