I like the rural and village community and that we can go into the countryside without travelling. Also I can walk to everywhere in the village. Having friends here that I met in primary school. 2. I like Houghton because it's by the countryside and there's lots of lovely people 3. Being in the countryside - A friendly village - Safe area 4. Football 5. My family - granddad and grandma live in Houghton too School is close by My friends live in Houghton 6. A very peaceful village Not lots of cars, friendly people 7. The lack of access to other places, e.g. Oadby by public transport and the length of time between each bus into town 2. It rains quite often, it's cold and the A47 is dangerous for children. If there was a zebra crossing, a lollipop lady or traffic lights I would feel more safe around the A47 3. No basketball courts or Skate/BMX park - Poor bus service 4. The football pitches and pavilion Need to be upgraded 5. Lots of cars on the main road (A47) 6. Nothing 7. Nothing that I don't like 8. The Weir Lane school bus stop is in a dangerous position 9. It is very quiet 10. The football pitch pavilion needs to be upgraded 11. I do not like the fact that the two petrol stations are next to each other 12. The small roads 13. People drive like maniacs on the corner of Stretton Lane 14. Nothing 15. The transport to other villages not very good and roads are dangerous - cars are too fast along Main Street 16. No cinema/arcades More activities/park equipment for older and younger children 17. Nothing 18. That there is a main road and it's very busy 19. Lack of Teen activities 20. I least like that there is not much for young people to do around Houghton apart from the park and the tennis courts 21. Not many of my school friends live in Houghton The village feels as if it is split in two because of the main road 22. It is sometimes too quiet and you can get bored 23. Public Transport 24. Bus routes not very good 25. Busy road (main street) 26. Can be boring Not enough buses 27. Not much transport 28. Not enough places to play Too small 29. Only I bus once an hour to Leicester No public transport to Oadby or elsewhere Not enough variety in shops 30. Nothing 31. Not enough buses 32. Cracked pavements that that take away from the sophisticated streets I'm used to 33. Main Street parking as when there is an event on at the village hall people sometimes park in front of our drive and so it means that I can't get my car in and out of the drive. Also, the traffic then gets crazy because of all the cars. 34. I least like living in Houghton is the big busy road 35. Nothing The traffic and loud people when I'm trying to get to sleep 36. The roads are small 37. I wish we had a bike course I wish we had an all-weather football pitch 38. The lack of shops The lack of job opportunities for young people/students The bus never comes on time/not enough busses 39. I don't like the village security I would like it to have gates with a code to all entrances to the village including field gates 40. So many old people 41. Hard to get to town as bus service is slow and expensive 42. Not much to do 43. Leads to A47 - very busy and fast 44. Nothing 45. No leisure centre No shops retail outlets No direct bus to Oadby, Kibworth 46. I don't really know 47. No shelter under the bus stop for when it's raining and I'm waiting for my school bus 48. Not much to do during the day in holidays/after school in Houghton itself for older children 49. There is not enough snow 50. Street lights turn off at night Q5 Do you feel safe in Houghton? I feel unsafe due to the cars parking on pavement on main street especially around the Coop 2. But I'm always aware of strangers. Also I don't like it if older boys hang out in cars at the park. 3. School bus to Beauchamp 4. At night especially Alley way leading to park not much lighting so you feel very vulnerable Q6 Do you go to school in Houghton? I used to but now I take the bus to Gartree High School every morning 3. 6 miles to Beauchamp college 4. Ratcliffe college 10 miles 5. 7 Miles to brocks hill, Oadby 6. 5 miles to Oadby 7. I travel about 5 miles on the school bus to Beauchamp college 8.
