Michael Garcia had his artwork chosen for the visual arts touring exhibit, one of only four from Ocean County! Nasia Flowers and Caitlin Bonifacio had their artwork chosen for state exhibit. If you are planning to attend Ocean County College, we will be taking 60 seniors to OCC on Tuesday, May 28 for an Enrollment Day, the final step in the OCC College Pathways program. Students will go through OCC Orientation, and schedule their classes for the fall semester. First preference will go to students who took the Accuplacer test through the Pathways Program in February and have already applied to OCC. Since space is limited, spots will be filled first come, first serve. Sign up with Mr. Borthwick in the Guidance Office, by having your parent send an email or by dropping off a written request to him in Guidance. SMOKING AND ELECTRONIC SMOKING DEVICES As per board of education policy 5533, smoking is prohibited by pupils at any time in school buildings and on any school grounds, at events sponsored by the Board away from school, and on any transportation vehicle supplied by the Board. This includes electronic smoking devices. Students who use tobacco products and/or these devices will be subjected to school discipline as per our Code of Conduct. Additionally, students could be subject to civil penalties under the New Jersey Smoke free Air Act. These penalties may carry fines beginning at $250 and a mandatory court appearance for first offenders. As you may be aware, it is possible for electronic smoking devices to contain with illegal chemicals of unknown origin. As such, any student found to be in possession or using these devices will be subjected to our district substance abuse protocols under board policy 5530.
