This Plan 1.1 What is the Woss Water Supply Emergency Response Plan? The Regional District of Mount Waddington is responsible for providing adequate supplies of clean potable water to the citizens of Woss, even in the event of an emergency or disaster. Disruptions in water quality and delivery may result from emergencies such as natural disasters, accidents, or intentional acts. If prepared in advanced, the Regional District will be more effective at responding to and recovering from such emergencies and disasters. The goal of the Regional District of Mount Waddington is to minimize all adverse impacts resulting from disruptions in the water system - this can be achieved only through sound emergency planning and thorough communication coordination. The Woss Water Supply came under the management of the Regional District in 2000 and is currently supplied by two wells. As a ground water supply system, the potential for bacterial contamination is limited and the Regional District is not currently required to have treatment for this system. A contracted agent of the Regional District of Mount Waddington samples and tests the well water monthly to ensure it is potable. In addition to the two pumps and the distribution system that supplies the community users, the water system incorporates a large covered concrete reservoir which is lined by “bag” that further secures water quality.
