Players seeking permits to the USA and Canada, must have an appropriate insurance policy or be included in a club insurance scheme covering injuries sustained while playing Ladies Gaelic Football in U.S.A. and/or Canada and which indemnifiesthe Ladies Gaelic Football Association against all claims arising frominjury sustained while playing abroad and must produce a copy of this policy when applying forthe permit. As per Official Guide Rule 111 it is compulsory for all players to obtain appropriate insurance cover before a permit to the U.S.A. or Canada can be granted. Players can download a J1 or Non J1 Permit Form on LGFA website link below: http://ladiesgaelic.ie/overseas/transfers-sanctions/ Permits will not be granted after 1st July. The GAA has a scheme in place which provides adequate cover of which the LGFA can avail. Like the vast majority of travel insurance policies, the option offered by the GAA can only be purchased by individuals before they leave Ireland. Important points for players to note include: Permits will NOT be processed unless insurance has been purchased. (Note Persons who take out other Insurance such as J1 Visa providers travel cover need to ensure that cover is provided for injuries sustained whilst playing Ladies Gaelic Football. This is not an automatic cover on most Travel Insurance covers and players will need to declare they will be playing Lades Gaelic Football as part of a team and they may have to pay an additional premium. They must provide details of their Insurance to LGFA with their permit before approval can be granted. The following are the steps which player's need to take to purchase the required insurance: 1. Go to the following link - http://www.chubbinsure.ie/travel/?afl=5781 2. Choose Backpacker Standard cover for a minimum of 90 days. It is the player's own responsibility to ensure they are covered for all dates of potential fixtures. If you do not have cover for a fixture you will not be eligible to play or covered in the event of a sudden or unexpected accident. 3. Please Note: ensure you select 'Worldwide Cover inc. US/Canada/Caribbean' 4. Members of Clubs in the 32 Counties of Ireland can purchase the insurance; please ignore the reference to the Six Counties, which states ‘excluding Northern Ireland’ 5. Choose the most accurate number of days that you will be staying in North America / New York / Canada - Minimum for North America is 90 days. 6. Please read and accept the terms and conditions of the policy and apply for the cover. 7. Fill in all the required fields in order to obtain your documentation. 8. Once purchased, the confirmation letter should be submitted along with the Official Permit Form to your County Secretary who will submit it to LGFA [email protected] or post to: LGFA, Croke Park, Dublin 3. 9. Permits will be approved from 1st May 2017 up to and including 1st July 2017 and once approved, all Permits will appear on LGFA website http://ladiesgaelic.ie/. Important Notes Only the 'Backpacker’ cover inc. US/Canada/Caribbean will suffice. A permit will NOT be granted if a player purchases 'Budget' cover. Holders of the J1 Work and Travel Programme Visa who have purchased insurance from their travel agency may not be required to purchase LGFA Travel Permit cover but will need to submit proof of cover whilst playing football with their permit.
