Gonadorelin: Patient and Prescriber Medication Information What it May be Used for: Testicular atrophy. It may be used for other conditions as determined by your provider. Gonadorelin is similar to gonadotropin releasing hormone, which may have an effect on the testes per the axis1. Compounded drug forms: injectables, troches, and sublingual tablets How Should I Take this Medication? Follow the prescription label directions provided by the pharmacy and your prescriber. Your dosage is based on your medical condition and response to therapy. n For Injectable — This medication should be given by subcutaneous injection. Rotating your injection site is recommended. Commonly used injection sites include: the outer area of the upper arm, the abdomen (avoiding a 2 inch circle around the navel), the front of the thigh, upper back, and areas of the buttock (just behind the hip bone). Wash hands and sanitize the injection site with alcohol prior to administration. Do not use the solution if it becomes cloudy, has particles, or changes color. Dispose of used needles in a Sharps container. Do not use past the beyond use date indicated on the prescription label. n For Troche — Place the troche between your gum and cheek and let it fully dissolve. n For Sublingual — Place the tablet under the tongue and let it fully dissolve. What if I Miss a Dose? If you miss a dose take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not double the dose. What Should I Watch Out for While Using this Medication? Signs of an allergic reaction: hives blistering, swelling of the mouth, face, lips tongue throat, trouble breathing. Signs of injection site reaction—redness or itching around the site the injection occurred. What Side Effects May I Notice? n Abdominal pain n Fever n Headache n Nausea Medication Dating and Storage Please follow storage recommendations found on your prescription label. Store troches, sublingual tablets and injectables at room temperature. Injectables should be protected from light. Suggested Patient Monitoring n Subjective change in appearance of testicles (fullness or atrophy). n LH and FSH levels pre-and-post therapy n Testosterone levels n Estradiol levels [continued over] Additional Information: n Do not share this medication with others to whom it was not prescribed. n Keep out of reach from children and pets. n If an overdose is suspected contact your local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222 or go to the nearest emergency room.
