SET and SET Foundation Donate THB 5.8 Million to Help COVID-19-Ravaged People

SET News 29/2021 May 5, 2021 SET and SET Foundation donate THB 5.8 million to help COVID-19-ravaged people BANGKOK, May 5, 2021 - The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) and the SET Foundation have stepped up effort to those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic by donating THB 5.8 million (approx. USD 184,895) to 10 hospitals and public health organizations to purchase medical equipment and supplies. SET President and SET Foundation’s Member of the Board of Directors and Secretary, Pakorn Peetathawatchai, said that the new wave of COVID-19 has rapidly caused more new confirmed cases. According to the report by the Department of Disease Control as of April 30, 2021, April recorded 36,290 new cases or more than a half of the country’s cumulated cases at 65,153 patients. The central and the northern regions logged the highest and the second highest cases resulting in an urgent need of medical equipment and apparatus among hospitals and public health organizations to accommodate the increasing number of patients in time. “SET, together with the SET Foundation, has donated THB 5.8 million to certain hospitals and healthcare units directly involved with the patients’ treatment and care to acquire medical supplies to save lives of the patients in the affected communities. We consider this as a critical situation and sincerely care for people, reflecting SET’s vision ‘To Make the Capital Market Work for Everyone’. We are determined to develop the capital market to benefit all sectors and ready to take part in relieving the burden in times of trouble. We would like to extend our moral support to the medical professionals and the people who are hard hit by the situation and hope we can become more resilient and overcome this hardship together,” said Pakorn.
