2018 FLORIDA GATORS TRACK & FIELD 8 NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS | 109 INDIVIDUAL NATIONAL TITLES | 25 SEC CHAMPIONSHIPS Reigning Back-to-Back NCAA Outdoor Champions • Florida’s men claimed their seventh national title since 2010--more than any other program in that span--with a second consecutive victory at NCAA Outdoors last year. • Of the Gators’ 61.5 points scored at NCAA Outdoors, 56.5 were individual, and athletes responsible for 39.5 of those individual points are back this year. KeAndre Bates (20) and Grant Holloway (18) combined for 38. Half-Point Heartbreak at 2017 NCAA Indoors • Florida’s men entered the 2017 NCAA Indoor Championships as the over- whelming favorites, but missed their first indoor national title since 2012 by half a point, finishing with 45.5 points to Texas A&M’s 46. 2018 SCHEDULE • Only the 1977 NCAA Indoor Championships crowned a single champion by INDOOR less than a one-point margin (Washington State topped UTEP, 25.5 to 25). WOMEN Women’s SEC Title Contenders Athlete Event Finish • Junior quarter-miler Sharrika Barnett is ranked No. 4 nationally, and her season best Sharrika Barnett 400m 2nd (52.09) of 51.64 (Razorback Invitational) lowered her indoor PR by 0.43 seconds. Yanis David Triple Jump 2nd (13.69m / 44-11) • On 4x400 relay duties this year, Barnett ran an anchor split of 50.56 seconds (out- Brandee’ Johnson 4x400 Relay 2nd (3:32.06) , along with a leadoff split of Destinee Gause 4x400 Relay splitting Sydney McLaughlin in that race) last month 51.74 seconds two weeks ago. Taylor Sharpe 4x400 Relay Sharrika Barnett 4x400 Relay • Speaking of the 4x400 relay, Florida enters this weekend ranked No. 3 nationally and No. 1 within the SEC, boasting a season best of 3:31.17 (Jan. 20 - Clemson). SEC ALL-FRESHMAN TEAM • The Gators have won the indoor 4x400 relay twice, with their titles coming in 2000 and 2014. They finished second to LSU last season. MEN Athlete Event Finish • Junior Yanis David only finished behind American and collegiate record holder Keturah Clayton Brown Triple Jump 3rd (16.58m / 54-4.75) Orji at the 2017 SEC Indoor and Outdoor Championships and 2017 NCAA Indoors triple Anders Eriksson Weight Throw 9th (20.31m / 66-7.75) jump competitions. David also finished third at the 2016 and 2017 NCAA Outdoors. Jack Guyton Mile 5th (4:05.44) • Last season, David set a massive indoor PR of 13.93 meters (45-8.5), becoming the third Grant Holloway 60 Hurdles 1st (7.64) Division I underclassman and seventh Division I woman since 2002 to eclipse 13.90 me- Long Jump 5th (7.73m / 25-4.5) ters indoors; she followed with an all-conditions season best of 13.92m / 45-8 outdoors. • Senior Lloydricia Cameron, who won the SEC Outdoors shot put title last year, ranks OTHER RETURNING SCORERS No. 5 nationally and No. 2 in the SEC this season (17.46m / 57-3.5). Cameron is seek- MEN ing Florida’s league-leading 10th SEC Indoor crown and the program’s first since . Athlete Event Finish Mariam Kevkhishvili’s consecutive titles in 2009 and 2010 AJ McFarland Weight Throw 5th (21.06m / 69-1.25) • Freshman pentathlete Amanda Froeynes ranks No. 8 nationally and No. 2 in the SEC, Jack Guyton DMR 7th (9:50.93) with her season best of 4,199 points (Jan. 20 - Clemson) being the sixth-highest score Justin Pacifico DMR by a Division I freshman since 2010. WOMEN Brown’s Rare Double Athlete Event Finish • Last season as a freshman, Clayton Brown became the second man since 1994 to score in both the high jump (t-5th) and triple jump (7th) at NCAA Indoor Championships- Lloydricia Cameron Shot Put 4th (16.82m / 55-2.25) -and he had less than a half-hour between the two events. Darrielle McQueen Long Jump 6th (6.36m / 20-10.5) Triple Jump 8th (13.29m / 43-7.25) • If Brown can score in the high jump and triple jump this weekend, he will be the sixth man Lauren Perry DMR 8th (11:36.29) since 2001 to score in both those events at the SEC Indoor Championships.
