Terna: Authorisation Procedure Started for the Rationalisation of the Electricity Grid Between Dolo and Camin

An investment of € 140 million to improve the reliability and quality of the electricity service TERNA: AUTHORISATION PROCEDURE STARTED FOR THE RATIONALISATION OF THE ELECTRICITY GRID BETWEEN DOLO AND CAMIN 16.5 km of new underground power lines will allow for the removal of 32 km of old overhead power lines 123 pylons will disappear and 95 hectares will be free from electricity lines Rome, 22 October 2020- Terna has filed with the Italian Ministry of Economic Development an authorisation request for the rationalisation project of the electricity grid between Dolo and Camin, which aims to improve the reliability and quality of the electricity service in the area. The project, which is part of the larger rationalisation of the high-voltage grid in the Venice and Padua areas, is one of the regional electricity grid development works included in the Memorandum of Understanding signed by Terna and the Veneto Region on 21 January 2019 and the result of more than a year of meetings and inspections with the Veneto Region, as well as the municipalities involved, in order to identify the most feasible area for the route. With an investment of € 140 million, the new underground cable connection will facilitate the exchange of energy between the areas of Venice and Padua and increase the resilience of the grid. At the same time, the work will reduce grid losses and improve the efficiency of the transmission service. The project involves building a new 380-kV underground cable around 16.5 km long and the demolition of almost 32 km of existing overhead power lines. As many as 123 pylons will be dismantled and around 95 hectares of land will be free from electricity infrastructure. The municipalities involved in the project are Dolo, Camponogara, Stra, Fossò and Vigonovo in the Venice province and the municipalities of Padua and Saonara (the latter only involved in demolition) in the Padua province. Continuing with the goal of sustainability and dialogue with local communities which has characterised the consulting process that led to the definition of the new line, Terna will make itself available to citizens to present the project through interactive online meetings, the dates of which will soon be released. .
