Appendix 1 Date of Issue Description 28 January 2021 1. Year of the Ox Hongkong Post is pleased to present the tenth of its fourth Lunar New Year special stamp series to ring in the Year of the Ox. This latest issue comprises four stamps, a stamp sheetlet and a silk stamp sheetlet. Staying true to tradition, stamp designs are based on artefacts modelled after the year’s zodiac animal to bring festive joy. May the Ox also bring everyone happiness and good fortune in the coming year. 1 Date of Issue Description 28 January 2021 1a. Gold and Silver Stamp Sheetlet on Lunar New Year Animals – Rat / Ox It is time to wave off the Year of the Rat and usher in the Year of the Ox for a new start. Co-starring the two zodiac animals, this gold and silver stamp sheetlet features a Year of the Rat stamp finished with silver hot foil stamping and a Year of the Ox stamp in 22K gold plating. Along with a certificate of authenticity, it is ideal both as a new year gift and for private collection. 23 February 2021 2. Intangible Cultural Heritage – Dragon and Lion Dance Dragon dance and lion dance are the all-time favourites at traditional Chinese festivals. In various local communities, these folk customs have unique historical, cultural and art significances. Inspired by this heritage, Hongkong Post is launching an issue of four stamps and two stamp sheetlets to present the five intangible cultural heritage items of Hong Kong ― lion dance, pixiu dance, unicorn dance, dragon dance and fire dragon dance. This unique issue aims to promote awareness and preservation of our priceless intangible cultural heritage. 2 Date of Issue Description 16 March 2021 3. Classical Novels of Chinese Literature – Romance of the Three Kingdoms One of the four great Chinese classics, Romance of the Three Kingdoms is the work of the Ming novelist LUO Guanzhong. This first long historical Chinese novel in chapters is mainly a narrative of wars, creating a great wealth of colourful characters. It is a highly acclaimed literary classic. Hongkong Post is presenting an issue of six stamps and two stamp sheetlets under the theme “Classical Novels of Chinese Literature – Romance of the Three Kingdoms”. Stamp designs have adopted the paintings by the celebrated artist Mr TUNG Pui-sun, and it is an issue definitely not to be missed. 3 Date of Issue Description 22 April 2021 4. Local Snacks in Hong Kong You can enjoy any cuisine from around the world in Hong Kong. To experience her authentic food culture, then you must try the wide variety of local snacks. This attractive issue of Hong Kong’s traditional snacks comprises six stamps and a stamp sheetlet featuring some of the mouth-watering favourites ― fishballs; candy and coconut wrap; stuffed three treasures; buttered pineapple bun; stewed skewers; peanut candy, steamed rice rolls, etc. Just a look of these eye-catching snacks on the stamps and stamp sheetlet will certainly excite your taste buds. 4 Date of Issue Description 25 May 2021 5. Hong Kong Museums Collection – 19th Century China Trade Paintings During the 19th century when Western merchants converged on Guangzhou for the flourishing China trade, Chinese artists set up their studios in the city to produce paintings with Western techniques in large quantity for the Western market. These works portrayed people’s life, social customs and landscapes of China, which were well-received by the Western buyers. Hongkong Post carries on with the Hong Kong Museums Collection by issuing a set of six stamps and two stamp sheetlets on the theme of distinct China trade paintings, documenting the varied facets of the market by then, as well as the impressive prosperity of Guangzhou and the striking simplicity of Hong Kong in the preceding century. 5 Date of Issue Description 22 June 2021 6. Centenary of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Hong Kong) The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Hong Kong) was founded in 1921. This long-standing animal welfare organisation in Hong Kong is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2021. On this happy occasion, Hongkong Post is releasing an issue of six stamps titled “Centenary of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Hong Kong)”, appealing for continued support for the Society’s efforts and spreading the message of love and care to make Hong Kong an animal-friendly city.
