In this issue, we report on the advantages of an Integrated Health System model. The benefits of having health services in the hospitals and in the community seamlessly connected are great, and many are now convinced that an integrated approach to patient care is the way forward. We also highlight the fact that the National Maternity Hospital in Holles Street, Dublin, has become the first hospital in this country to introduce prescribing by Nurses and Midwives.
