more than six /8s of address space - 1,200 IPv6 prefixes; more than 10,000 /32 blocks • Functionality progress RIPE NCC Members with Certificates - All address space (PI and Legacy) - RPKI software open-source and standalone package - Resiliency improvements APNIC 38 Brisbane - September 2014 Corporate Governance RIPE NCC Update 10 • Expansion of the Executive Board to six members in May 2014, further expansion in May 2015 - Allows the Board to better deal with growing membership and increasing complexity - New members Maria Häll and Salam Yamout are first female RIPE NCC Board members • Currently working on Draft Activity Plan and Budget for 2015 • Our Executive Board has joint meetings with the APNIC Executive Council to identify areas for collaboration APNIC 38 Brisbane - September 2014 Actions from RIPE NCC Survey 2013 RIPE NCC Update 11 • Over 3,600 responses to our survey in 2013 • Identified 48 key findings, took actions on these and reported to the members and community: • Considering non-English language support • Improving the RIPE NCC website • Reducing administrative bureaucracy • Boosting engagement with academic community • Making tools and measurements more useful/easy to find • Increasing support for regional and local communities • Defend the bottom-up model of Internet governance • Provide more how-to docs and use cases for all services APNIC 38 Brisbane - September 2014 RIPE Policy - Current Proposals RIPE NCC Update 12 • 2014-02 “Allow PI Transfers” - Align transfer policy for PI addresses with transfer policy for PA addresses • 2014-04 “Relaxing IPv6 Requirement for Receiving Space from the final /8” - Allow members to receive an IPv4 allocation from the final pool if they have an IPv6 allocation from any of the RIRs • 2014-05 “Policy for Inter-RIR Transfers of Internet Resources” - Allow transfers to and from other RIR regions - Transfers must comply with the policies in other regions APNIC 38 Brisbane - September 2014 RIPE Policy Implementation RIPE NCC Update 13 • Implementing ripe-605 - “RIPE NCC Services to Legacy Internet Resource Holders” • Legacy resource holders who are not already members can now choose to: • Become a RIPE NCC member • Register their resources through a sponsoring LIR • Have a direct contract with the RIPE NCC • Stay as they are APNIC 38 Brisbane - September 2014 IANA Oversight Transition RIPE NCC Update 14 • Discussions taking place in the RIPE Cooperation Working Group - Mailing list and RIPE Meeting sessions • Coordinating closely with other RIR communities - Aiming for 1 December deadline for RIPE community position • More information http://ripe.net/iana-oversight-transition APNIC 38 Brisbane - September 2014 Outreach RIPE NCC Update 15 • Contributing to global and regional Internet governance discussions - Internet Governance Forum the central focus - Contributing to regional events: EuroDIG, Arab IGF, Russian IGF - Participating in regional and global ITU discussions, including PP14 • Government Roundtable meetings (twice yearly) • Working with Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) on capacity building - Interpol (Eurasia group), Europol, police in Arab states, Iran APNIC 38 Brisbane - September 2014 RIPE 69 - Come Visit Us!
